<< Background >>

OUTDOC was born with the purpose of providing an opportunity to those PhD students that cannot access the academia and face the uncertainties of joining the labour market after a career devoted to research. It is a highly skilled labour force, that matches the needs of a highly demanding market, but that lacks the right soft skills for employability. These skills are not provided at education institutions, creating a gap that burdens the European industry competitiveness.

<< Objectives >>

The objective of OUTDOC is to cover for this training gap by providing these doctorate students with the soft skills that they lack to access the market. A comprehensive, tailored training program, outside formal education, will permit the students to access the market and thus cover the needs of the European XXI markets.

<< Implementation >>

A consortium of 4 companies and 4 SMEs, representing 4 different companies was settled. This consortium developed a survey that was carried out among 252 companies from emerging sectors to identify which are the soft skills that the market was requested. Once identified, all partners developed the contents for an online program, developing each of those soft skills.
