Project Summary
CONTEXT
Through the Europe 2030 Agenda, the European Union plans to support young people better and to enable them to fully develop their talents to their own as well as to their economy’s and society’s benefit
One of the main obstacles to the full achievement of this ambitious objective is the persistent high rate of youngsters leaving school before having completed their VET learning pathway and before having achieved a certification that guarantee to them to be competitive within the job market
Structural changes induced by rapid technological developments, such as digitalisation, automation, robotics or artificial intelligence, and evolving consumer demands will continue to speed up the process of new jobs being created and others changing or even disappearing as well as trigger dynamic changes in skills requirements. Furthermore, mitigation of effects of climate change requires appropriate technological developments ,such as new environmental friendly technologies, sustainable energy consumption and production
In this context education and training should equip everyone with a broad range of skills which opens doors to personal fulfilment and development, social inclusion, active citizenship and employment.
Project partners will use HACKATHONS like a methodological tool where VET students can experience working in a collaborative environment under a time constraint that will improve their key competences in ESTEAME (Equality, Science, Technology; Engineering, Arts Maths,ecology) and foreign languages, as well as transversal skills and key competences such as digital competences, entrepreneurship, critical thinking, problem solving, team working, flexibility, learning to learn
NEEDS
The project partners have identify 4 NEEDS:
-To grow key competences in ESTEAME areas and transversal skills such as digital competences, entrepreneurship, critical thinking, problem solving, emotional intelligence, learning to learn.. using HACHATHONS like a tool to engage VET students in the VET schools actitivies
-To find new resources for motivating and encouraging students to pursue learning in ESTEAME-related fields promoting inclusion and bringing girls in to this traditionally maildominated fields thus promoting gender equality in VET schools
-Support teachers with effective, structured and curriculum-relevant teaching solutions for equality, science, technology, engineering, arts, maths and ecology(ESTEAME)
-Better comprehension and knowledge of the most innovative and technical solutions available to be used for developing educational contents for motivating VET students and promoting personal fulfillment and development, social inclusion, active citizenship and employment
-VET institutions need to internazionalize their activities and share good practices on ESTEAME to develop sustainable partnership to develop sectorial skills competitions
AIM
The AIM of EU HACKATHONS project is to enable VET students to understand ESTEAME challenging subjects, encourage them to develop transversal skills and key competences such as digital competences,innovation,critical thinking, problem solving learning to learn… Using ESTEAME concepts in VET School, VET students will grow their ideas, and make their own creations through playful learning experiences applying ESTEAME concepts, promoting gender equality,personal fulfilment and development, social inclusion, active citizenship and employment paticipating in EU HACKATHONS project
TARGET GROUP
The TARGET GROUP of the project are ESTEAME VET teachers and students(aged 17-22)
PARTNERSHIP
The project will involve 7 VET public schools of 5 different European countries.
The partnership is composed by some VET public schools with experience in the development of innovative projects for VET students and can ensure the quality of the project results

The guide will be focused on using HACKATHONS like an innovative tool to enhance students’ motivation towards the study of ESTEAME subjects, improve their basic and transversal skills, art design and promote gender equality
-Learning community- Network of VET teachers, students and schools, public authorities in charge of VET educational or/an employment policies
-Sort term join staff training in Croatia “using EU HACKATHONS like tool to motivate students in ESTEAME”
-Students training at national level “National HACKATHONS challenge: solving the proposed challenges”
-Blended mobility of VET students in Portugal- EU HACKATHONS
-Final International Dissemination Conference about “EU HACKATHONS and ESTEAME concepts in VET”
-Insertion of the project results into the European VET systems
– EU HACKATHONS club in each participant country to facilitate the organization of national and EU HACKATHONS after the financial period
