Project Summary

e-KINE aims to offer a solution to replace classical rehabilitation services with on line services, in particular through building digital education readiness, development of digital competencies and strong cooperation between the world of education, digital technology providers and the world of work. The project should complement efforts to help the medical sector recover from the crisis in terms of innovative online solutions, thereby contributing to the EU’s strategic priorities, addressing to VET on tertiary level. Our general goal is to promote innovative methods and tools for teaching, training and work based learning as drivers of improvements in lifelong learning and to support kinesitherapists/physiotherapist in acquisition of skills for delivery of online medical services needed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
e-KINE innovative training approaches include:
– Development of e-KINE on-line collaborative platform as a virtual place where trainees and trainers will be able to learn, teach and co-create content of courses. Promoting OER in different languages and supporting digital content of training are one of the major aspects. Innovation consists in creation of interactive model of learning and new methodologies in gaining knowledge.
– The e-KINE course will be included into the e-learning platform. The training content will be based on a curricula that will equip the trainees with extended knowledge regarding the use of different online tools for telemedicine; a special chapter will be dedicated for on-line rehabilitation tools including real life case studies. A database of rehabilitation protocols in different pathology will be developed.
-A pilot work-based learning oriented approach will give the trainees the opportunity to apply knowledge in practical workplace situations and function as an on-line rehabilitation unit. This will function as a virtual medical environment. Under the trainer supervision, the trainee will work on line with the patient, communicate, asses the patient condition, choose the correspondent protocol or adapt it to the patient needs and follow up the process.
The DIRECT TARGET group refer to kinesi/physiotherapists that NEED to develop new skills in the new context and better integration into labor market. The INDIRECT target group refers to other medical professionals, patients, stakeholders that would benefit of the new training approaches and on line rehabilitation services.
In the development of the present proposal a special attention was payed to ensure CROSS-SECTORIAL cooperation and SYNERGIES between the different involved fields by choosing an appropriate mix of complementary participating organisations In order to answer to the specific necessities required to implement the topic and objectives of e-KINE, the consortium includes 4 partners with different backgrounds, from 3 countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey). Aiming to promote learning based on work /practice we developed a partnership between educators that coordinate the training process of kinesytherapists and lifelong learning of specialists (University of Craiova), work environment and employers (rehabilitation clinics- Nutrilife and Mersin University Hospital, Department Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) and Regional academic center of BAS Burgas, as an association of organisations including representatives of the economic, non-profit and scientific-educational sector. For e-KINE project we will involve Municipality of Burgas, Medical University “Prof. Dr. A. Zlatarov ” and Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (stakeholder, medical, IT and research aspects).
The project is going to bring positive and long-lasting effects on target groups and participant organisations, as well as on regional, national and EU level. Direct beneficiaries will be equiped with the necessary tools and competences needed to come up with creative and innovative solutions to face unprecedented risks, and societal challenges in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and to overcome skills mismatches. A more dynamic, committed and professional environment will be build inside the partner organisations, strengthening capacity to respond to actual challenges by an adapted educational offer and required competencies of graduates; reinforce the competences and skills of employees to offer on-line quality rehabilitation services and increase the affordability and quality of medical services.
Increased cooperation by European exchanges of experiences, knowledge and information by networking with all relevant medical partners, representatives of HEIs and labour market, local/regional public authorities in participant countries will help in offering long-term solutions that will continue to support the process of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
