Project Summary

Now, more than ever, access to education is crucial, and having a skilled, open, and creative young generation is essential, especially when looking into the future. The covid-19 pandemic has enormously disrupted education and training which has spurred innovative solutions to keep emerging, with everyone accepting the ongoing changes and adapting fast. As part of the recovery process Europe needs to focus on boosting creativity and enhancing social inclusion, tackle climate change and the need of sustainability, and the creative and cultural sectors, with the joint support of other key players, could collectively achieve that.

By acquiring skills, values, and attitudes which will have a great positive impact on any level – personal, society, planet – the new generation could help us achieve not only a more sustainable Union but a united and green such. This is also in line with the 9 April 2019 Council Conclusions ‘Towards an ever more sustainable Union by 2030’, the program also contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as to the development of a sense of responsibility for a sustainable world, environmental protection, and global citizenship.

Climate change is the greatest threat we all face today. Whether it is rising sea levels, extreme weather events, global temperature rise, shrinking ice sheets, we all must act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Along with the threat of global warming, we have faced a pandemic. Actions on climate change have been altogether slow, and now with covid-19 much of the focus has been shifted and we need to envision a more sustainable approach to tackle societal, environmental, and economic challenges.

The vision of the “Creativity, Culture and Collaboration to Combat Climate Change” project is to support and prepare youth to become true factors of change by learning about sustainability and climate change, and how to mitigate their negative impact on the environment through various actions. Moreover, the results we are striving to achieve will not only help each partner in the project to introduce new practices within their activities to help the next generation of green enthusiasts and change-makers, but will also leave a long-lasting change in each participant of the project, and beyond.

The specific objectives of the project are:
1. Raise awareness among young people about the challenges we face due to climate change and educate them to implement small changes into their lives to save carbon footprint so they can do something about the world they live in to contribute to saving the Planet –> via the Intellectual Output – Creativity & I Can Save The Planet [Handbook]
2. Engage youth via a creative and digital way to be more responsible and initiative and through training/workshops to build eco-literacy through the 50 years of the environmental and climate movement in Europe –> via the Intellectual Output – Climate Voices [Educational Videos]
3. Raise awareness among young people about Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) and educating them on sustainable living through the concepts of the creative and cultural industries and a design thinking approach –> via the Intellectual Output – The Art of Sustainable Living [Creative Educational Content]
4. Create a hub of interactive e-learning, exposure for projects/ initiatives in the creative and cultural industries to tackle climate change and provide visibility for young people to showcase their creative projects as well as connect with other motivated young people to create and be part of a global change and a new generation responsible and sustainable mindset –> via the Intellectual Output – C6 Digital Platform

In addition to the intellectual outputs that the project partners will produce, the project will organize two series of workshops and exhibitions complementary to the intellectual outputs as well as three multiplier events in the form of festivals and exhibitions that will take place simultaneously in Denmark, Italy, and Norway.

The project consortium consists of 6 partners from 5 countries (Denmark, Italy, Norway, UK, and Sweden) – SixtyEight Art Institute, People of 2050, CasermArcheologica, Norwegian Climate Network, Worldview Impact Foundation and Earthbanc. The partnership is made up of non-profit organizations, associations and SME – all supporting the main target group in this project (young people in the age of 18 to 29 years old (individuals, youth clubs and NGOs of young people within this age, etc) through various projects/ initiatives and activities.

The project has been designed to be implemented transnationally by the partners to meet the most pressing needs of combatting climate change and supporting the cultural and creative sectors. This project, uniting diverse cross-sector partners, will allow novel forms of creative actions to engage youth and overall strengthen young people’s sense of initiative with a focus on climate cha
