Project Summary

The Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 on key competences for lifelong learning calls on the Member States to “develop the supply of key competences”. Educational centers and schools play a key role in the improvement of educational quality and in the development of key skills through art. The development of entrepreneurial skills among young people is based on the increasingly dynamic environment in which we live, mainly in Europe. Globalization and the new labor market mean that young people are facing changing environments that demand from them the ability to adapt, creativity and initiative, self-motivation, dealing with ambiguity, learning from one’s own experience, etc.

We want to promote Ephemeral Art as a tool of expression that will allow the students to communicate the consequences, feelings, and emotions that the impact of COVID-19 has produced on their lives, and has meant for them both on a personal and social level, in the school and family environment, and the impact that it may also have on their future on a professional level. The UN states that the coronavirus pandemic has affected more than 1.5 billion students worldwide and has deepened inequalities in education. That is why today more than ever it is necessary to invest in the development of new skills in young people to meet the demands of an increasingly globalised and technological society and labour market.

The general objective of the project is to promote the inclusion of students, especially those with fewer opportunities within the school environment, in the development of key competences through creativity and art and the use of new technologies, as well as improving educational quality, providing the teaching personnel with tools for the teaching of ephemeral art that can be applied to different subjects at school and/or as part of the Visual and Plastic Arts curriculum.
Ephemeral art with its innovative, experimental, and long-lasting nature facilitates the development of educational projects and the application of different artistic genres and techniques.

The project will be implemented by a partnership of different organizations within the educational community – primary and secondary school students, teachers in educational centers, primary and secondary education centres, from Spain, Italy, Slovenia, and Turkey. Through the implementation of Ephemeral Art projects, they will promote the 8 lifelong learning competences that are key in the Erasmus+ program: personal communication, communication in foreign languages, mathematics and science and technology, digital, social and civic competences, cultural awareness and expression, learning to learn, sense of initiative and entrepreneurship in order to achieve a more competitive society and a better social and personal development of the students.

The creation of an intellectual product “METHODOLOGICAL GUIDE FOR EPHEMERAL ART TEACHING IN SCHOOL” is planned, which will design new educational approaches in order to promote the professional development and access to employment of future generations within the cultural and artistic field through the development of key skills and competencies. On the other hand, two training activities are planned, one aimed at the teachers in which they will learn about new educational methodologies based on Ephemeral Art as socio-educational tools in order to put them into practice in the schools from their country and another aimed at the winning group of students who can share their projects in a student mobility exchange.

The main result will be the development of key competences, based on creativity and art, necessary for the personal fulfillment and development of students, as well as for their active citizenship, social inclusion, and employment. They will learn to appreciate and enjoy art, acquiring a basic knowledge of different cultural and artistic manifestations, as well as the application of skills of critical thinking and collaborative work, an open, respectful and critical attitude towards the diversity of artistic and cultural expressions, a desire and willingness to cultivate one’s own aesthetic and creative capacity, and an interest in participating in cultural life and contributing to the preservation of cultural and artistic heritage, both of one’s own community and of other communities at European level.
On the other hand, teachers will be more trained in on the benefits of art and creativity in student education and its application, improving their technological skills and with the opportunity to have participated in a European project with other colleagues from schools and partner organizations, exchanging knowledge, experiences and good practices.
