Project Summary
S.T.O.P is a partnership project that aims at stopping participants in the middle of flowing life and take a mindful breath. This Project has been designed for discovering ways to improve pupils in emotional, social and personal ways. Project activities are supposed to set up a growth mindset for kids, parents, teachers and other staff so that they can learn and live with a calm mind in a positive atmosphere. We aim to help them become lifelong learners. We want to create a positive environment in the school and develop intercultural, social thinking and emotional competence among all the participants. We hope schools will promote peace and reduce bullying problems through emotional intelligence activities, P4C activities and mindfulness and art therapy techniques. We really want our schools to stimulate a positive diversity and reduce discrimination via empathize others. We´ve observed that the more our students’ psychology is improved, the more meaningful our education at school is.
In every education system this is the target: raising happy, respectful and productive citizens. Each system, each society has its own rules, views and also its own expertise. That is why we want to carry out this project internationally. We want to collaborate with students from different partner schools with different education systems and different backgrounds. We want to exchange our qualifications via conducting this project’s activities.
Mindfulness techniques, Breathing exercises, P4C and art therapy, emotional intelligence strengthening techniques, family activities will help each participant to learn how to overcome challenges in real life. These activities will help us gain creativity, communication, teamwork, critical thinking abilities which are called “soft skills” or 21st Century Skills. To achieve these objectives, 6 hardworking schools which deal with mindfulness and some supplementary techniques got together for this project. Nilüfer Guidance and Research Centre joined us to include pupils who need inclusive or special education. Mudanya MEM offered its resources to support and disseminate this project’s activities. All the partners have worked on their activities that match with this project’s objectives. Most of our partners worked in eTwinning Project collaboratively. Our Project is based upon two eTwinning Projects about our topics. Turkey, Spain and Wales coordinated eTwinning projects about mindfulness in education. We will combine their experiences and will create a new eTwinning Project all together. We will use the platform to exchange information about our schools, make pupils-pupils interaction in a safe digital environment. We will share our Project work on twinspace as well as our website for outer users.
We have planned 3 “Short term Joint Staff Trainings” and 3 Transnational meetings to be completed in two years. We had planned and then cancelled pupils mobilities because of safety measures against pandemic Covid19. Apart from that, we planned a series of selection, transportation, official and logistical precautions for the wellbeing of participants, and the Project success in general. Pupils, families and the local community will benefit from our project activities through our dissemination tools. We will conduct mindfulness, P4C and emotional intelligence activities monthly. We will have a mindful story tree to read mindful books, we plan creating a calming kit tool, art therapy guidance, implementation guide, e-book of calming strategies, some conflict resolution cards and Mindfulness rooms with bags of stories. We will design monthly family tasks and publish all of our work on our website, eTwinning Twinspace and on our social media accounts. We will spread our work creating project corners at schools, making digital and pressed banners, leaflets, videos, meetings with local authorities, ErasmusDays and Erasmus Festival. We plan doing two pre-tests and post-tests to evaluate the success of our implemented activities. We will also make a general survey and meetings about the effect of the project on teachers, parents and pupils. Our project teams’ feedback reports and meeting minutes will be used for assessment and monitoring tools as well. All the outputs will be downloadable from our website which we plan to keep active for minimum 5 years after our project finishes.
We will use our mascots while conducting project activities and joining meetings to arouse awareness on cultural aspect.
