Project Summary

The project titled “Digital competences of academic staff. A new dimension of Mediterranean studies (acronim: DG_MED) will durate 24 months. The consortium consists three universites: from Poland (Cracow), from Spain (Sevilla) and from Italy (Padua).

The project covers the following priorities and objectives:
Priorities:
• Horizontal: Innovative practices in the digital age. Stimulating creativity and cultural awareness.
• Higher education: Improving digital skills and overcoming digital dis-functionalities
• Key topics: Open and distance learning. New innovative curricula /didactical methods / training / course development. International cooperation, international relations, development cooperation
Objectives:
• Developing digital competences of project participants
• Adjusting academic staff skills to the requirements of online education during the pandemic
• Increasing the quality of on-line and distance learning in partner institutions
• Expanding educational offer of partner universities by developing syllabi of selected courses within the new module of studies in the specialization “Security policy and cooperation expert in the Mediterranean”
• Developing digital teaching tools and materials for selected courses / digital adjustment of existing materials
• Stimulating the level of internationalization at partner institutions
• Networking between staff and institutions interested in implementation of project aims
• Establishing cooperation platform with experts in the field of on-line education and development of digital teaching tools and materials
• Exchange of good practices, experiences and innovative ideas in the field of distance learning

The project tasks will be realized by:
• Conducting international training and workshops in the area of digitization of academic teaching
• Development of digital / virtual teaching materials to be applied to selected online / distance learning courses
• Exchange of experience and good practice regarding appliance of educational platforms to on-line education in project partner institutions
• Cooperation with institutions specializing in distance education
• Practical appliance of acquired competences with the aim to develop digital teaching materials
• Organization of international project meetings in real or on-line format depending on the epidemiological situation

The consortium will create the deliverables:
• A minimum of 46 hours of training for 20 people of the consortium staff in the field of digitization of academic instruction – developing programme and pilot training
• Developing international study programme for the specialisation of the study programme: “Security policy and cooperation expert in the Mediterranean”
• Drafting four syllabi minimum to be applied to selected courses within the specialization
• Preparing a minimum of sixteen educational units in digital form (e-lectures, e-tutorials, e-presentations, e-self-evaluation, etc.)
• Drafting international electronic methodology guide (for staff) including recommendations to e-lectures (including descriptions of good practices)
• Drafting international electronic manual (for students) including recommendations to e-lectures (e.g bibliography)
• Improving linguistic, social and management skills of the consortium members

All results will be available in the open access formula.
