Project Summary

“Schools for Future” is a binational exchange project between a state-run comprehensive school in Germany and a French private school. The partner schools are committed to the environment, plan activities together and are aware of their special responsibility. As educational institutions their aim is to provide sustainable education and as administrative bodies they try to save as many resources as possible (for example, reducing the consumption of paper using digital resources).
School is an ideal place to make the saving of resources and recycling tangible and realizable, and at the same time, make the democratic participation of students visible on a European level. During the period of the project, participants will deal with environmental topics in an interdisciplinary way and subsequently get an insight into EU politics in Brussel. The active examination of the topic and the development of alternatives for conserving resources will lead to a sustainable change in the status quo of the participating schools.
With its special focus and digital equipment, such as tablet classes and the abandonment of PET bottles in daily school life, the German school can serve as a role model.
Aims:
In addition to the acquisition of intercultural, methodological and language skills, the project’s declared aim is to increase participants’ awareness of environmental protection and conserving resources. Especially, the geographical, economic and ecopolitical conditions of the exchange regions will be taken into consideration.
Implementation
Working out regional characteristics in this binational dialog will broaden the view from the local to the European level. But first the respective regions of origin will be explored and specific opportunities and challenges for environmental protection will be worked out. Students will learn in interdisciplinary ways and deepen their understanding of environmental topics through practical work in Eco clubs.
During this process, the exchange pupils will communicate via the eTwinning platform, prepare diferents ecology activities and present their research results to each other. They participate actively by exploring the German and French conditions, creating questionnaires and conducting interviews with persons responsible.
The project is planned in a student-oriented manner. Participants will be German and French students with and without migrant backgrounds, because in Europe “United we are strong”
