Project Summary
Most of our schools (from preschool to early secondary) are enrolled in the European and International Opening Project (POEI). In addition to this project, we want to take part in an ERASMUS+ partnership.
This partnership is initiated by the Belgian school, and will include 2 French schools (one mainland and one Overseas department), Romania and Bulgaria
Fostering and developing reading skills is a goal common to all. We would like, through a journey in literature and international exchanges, to promote, among our pupils, the pleasure of reading by developing their reading skills and enable them to acquire from a very early age attitudes of readers. Depending on their age range, the pupils from the different partner schools will be able to discover local and international literature, and study the similarities and differences between their cultures.
The children will be able to exchange progressively on their discoveries, their acquired knowledge, their know-how and to build through these exchanges a rich literary culture. These exchanges (epistolary, videoconference, blogs, padlets) can be done in French or English.
Preparing today’s children for their life as active citizens of tomorrow is the fundamental mission of the school. Our goal is to develop and enrich our cultural identity by sharing it and discovering the others’. In addition, we would like to promote social diversity and encourage the pupils’ access to pluricultural and linguistic openness. Through the knowledge of the culture of the European countries and social codes, they will be able to communicate abroad or with foreign people in their native country.
During this partnership, we will carry out a collaborative work with all our partners around the tales and legends of Europe. Teachers will be able to share and benefit from the contribution of different learning practices and experiences in the field of reading learning through the organisation of 7 short training events for teachers in each of the partner countries and exchanges and sustained communication on eTwinning.
The pupils will be able to present books in abstract form, drawing, audiobook, dramatised readings, video, to arouse the desire to discover, swap selected bookcases according to their interest. They will be able to report the activities related to the project (media library, « cité du livre », famous place for a legend …), to experience and make the partners and the families experience particular days in the school: market of the knowledge, European/Erasmus days … Create a blog that will centralize actions carried out by all.
All the classes of the partnership will work on the collaborative project of elaboration of a European collection of tales and legends. The families will be involved in this project and will be able to participate in enriching these exchanges. Everyone will have the opportunity to discover, experience and share European culture, and take part in a real human experience. This project will be progressive and evolving according to the learners’ ages. Not only will it develop language skills, readers’ skills but also offer a cultural openness to the world. Both oral and written communication will promote self-confidence.
