Project Summary

The project has been developed on the basis of a previous Erasmus+ KA1 mobility project, where some of the colleagues of our institution took part in mobility courses for improving their digital competences and language skills. Our school has also won a national project which provides digital development, implementing state-of-the-art technology with high-speed internet connection, that contributes to the practical use of the outcome of the current Erasmus KA229 project. This project is innovative because it will allow us to share our ideas and to experience the methodology of other European countries at the same time.
There have been numerous changes and reforms in the educational and economical fields in Hungary and therefore there is severe need for high-quality and modern education of maths, science and foreign languages. Just as our partners, we would like to maintain or even increase our attractiveness within the European Union and we would like to achieve this by applying methods and techniques which prove to be motivating for students. Schools and teachers nowadays have to be modern and attractive to students and the digital world is one the best attraction for them. Top priority is to use ICT in foreign language learning and to make the students more comfortable with different types of digital technologies. This could be achieved by making them more aware of the diversity in European countries, broadening their horizons and improving their language learning skills by working on different types of projects with the students of the partner organisations.
Their severe interest in modern digital technology could be used as a key factor also for those who are in danger of early school leaving due to lack of motivation or disadvantaged family background. Also social media plays an important role in our life and since it has started to integrate itself into nearly all fields of life from private life to education, work and businesses, and since pupils love to pass their time on these platforms, we could possibly benefit from this interest. That’s why we decided to use these tools to raise the motivation and knowledge level of our students with the tools that they already love to use each and every day.
This project being realized in international teams will lead to an additional advantage: during the short term visits to another country, participants will be able to experience multiculturalism, which naturally leads to understanding, accepting and respecting cultural diversity.
This is a constantly changing world that we live in and new challenges appear every day. Us, teachers, need to cope with them and to make the best of them in order to make our students as cooperative and flexible as it is expected in this modern world. Therefore, developing our teachers’ and students’ linguistic, digital, social and civic competences is a key area in this project. We would like to „harness” technology for the learning process by using online learning platforms such as Kahoot, Socrative, Quizlet, LearningApps and more, sharing ideas on eTwinning, using online tools for evaluation and dissemination.
We are going to organize 4 short trips (each participating school will host one visit), where small groups of children will be able to exchange ideas, work on common projects, improve their language skills and to learn to cooperate in international teams. Also a short-term joint staff meeting will contribute to an increased level of linguistic and digital competences of the teachers.
The crucial aim of the trips will be to share the good practices with each other. We Hungarians, as the coordinator country, would like to present the revolution of vocabulary teaching from old-school to modern, digital methods.
Fun and engagement is the title of the Italian mobility which focuses on games and digital tools. It shows how they represent perfect environments to facilitate exploration, having a strong impact on a student’s ability to learn-by-doing and immediate acquisition of knowledge and skills. While playing and interacting with different forms of reality, students can learn without even realizing it.
Analog to Digital Foreign Language Acquisition is the title of the German mobility project which focuses on learning as various kind of stations on different levels extending to digital devices and opportunities. The aim of this activity is to motivate the students and to simplify the acquisition of a foreign language and to embed the studying in their daily digital life.
The mobility of the Portuguese partners includes a group work with ICT, Visual Education and Handicrafts where they will develop practical work for a final exhibition and work on new skills with the new technologies.
All participating countries plan to share project outcomes on different platforms such as eTwinning and other programmes of the European Union such as School Education Gateway.
