Project Summary
“Youth Agents for Change – Combating Discrimination Based on Gender Age and Ethnicity” project was implemented by three organizations from Europe and Central Asia: Poland, Kyrgyzstan, and Sweden. The project aimed to contribute with efforts to eliminate discrimination based on age, gender and ethnicity. This has been done via transnational capacity-building activities that have put youth in local communities as agents for change, as well as transnational mobility activities that greatly complemented capacity-building activities and ensured the exchange of best practices and experiences among three organizations, added European and Central Asian values to the project. The main target groups of the capacity-building activities were youth, youth organizations, young women, teachers, and dut-bearers. Mobility activities involved young people, youth workers, EVS participants and CSOs from Kyrgyzstan, Sweden and Poland on short and long-term basis and enabled them to become integral part of the project. Participants of both rounds of mobility of youth workers, as well as EVS participants have learn about mobilization techniques, youth and civil society organizations in a foreign context and different national and organizational structures, how to support local NGOs in their work, got acquainted with new languages and social groups etc. The mobility participants contributed to sustainability of project consortium in a sense that new experiences, practices and lessons learned have been institutionalized in all three organizations. Moreover, project activities have built capacity of youth and youth organizations, sensitized community members regarding the issues related to age, gender and ethnicity, enabled young people to become active citizens within their communities, and provided opportunities to constructively demand their rights, as well as created regional and international networks for young people and organizations that provide numerous opportunities for collaborations.
