Project Summary
“Management Game for Future European Managers” is an Erasmus+ project whose main objective is the exchange of practices as concerns the achievement in relevant and high quality skills and competences in a lifelong learning perspective through open and innovative practice in our digital era, through education to EU citizenship on one hand and training and the enhancement of transversal competences such as entrepreneurship on the other.
MGs are an opportunity to learn in an operational and managerial context, really similar to a firm. The participants from the five European countries, which have been chosen as representative of quite different economic areas in our continent, simulate the creation of a company that should operate as a real firm in a real European framework (laws, constitution, competitiveness, business plan, marketing, etc.). Future European citizens should get to know different countries’ legislation and economical policies. Besides, taking part in activities carried out in firms and companies abroad, should teach them to operate and work in an international framework. This could help them to get used to their possible transnational mobilities once looking for a job.
By mocking the business world, this experience enhances the collaborations between school and both local societies and organizations. Through MGs, a formative process is developed, not only within classrooms, but also in a social-economical context, adapting itself to the students’ personalities and skills.
The main activities and their outputs will include:
– three transnational project meetings (kick off, mid term and final) all of these meeting objectives were met and completed culminating in another joint project application.
– analysis of theoretical aspects (national and international laws ,apps and games for mobiles, environment and development languages) – this activity was completed in Italy 2019. All partner agree that it was a successful contribution to the overall project.
– conferences with experts of the different issues dealt with (international law, computers, advertising, web communication, business consultants and administration). Most of the conferences were achieved during the project, only those that were disrupted by Covid restrictions were not applicable.
– visits to places of interest (a national Chamber of Commerce,a firm selling software, a local firm producing software, a company creating websites) – this criteria was met at the meetings that took place thought the project. Only in instances where there was unforeseeable disruption to meetings was this not completed i.e., the website was meant to be completed during the fifth meeting.
– creation of a business plan, both in its descriptive part and in its quantity part – this was achieved before and during the third meeting with the Spanish partner in October 2019.
– creation of the product and writing of an instruction handbook – This was achieved before and during the meeting in Iceland in May 2019.
– creation of a web site – as already noted, this was not achievable because the students were unable to attend the meeting in Finland in late 2020 due to Covid restrictions and other time constraints.
– writing of an advertising campaign (billboards, flyers, banners, videos), its translation in the different languages and its adjustment to the different national markets – this was unachievable as it was meant to occur in spring 2020 in the Netherlands. Again, this
wasn’t completed to the Covid restrictions and time constraints.
Our MG project aims at the personalization of the learning strategies. As a consequence, the main strategies of our MG are role playing, problem solving, learning by doing, selflearning, cooperative learning and peer collaboration..
By means of the above mentioned strategies, this project aims at including, along with students with a regular school curriculum, other types of pupils, e.g.: students with less attitude at studying, affected by attention and specific learning disorders, disadvantaged ones (economic or social problems of their families, etc.).
The target is made of two groups of students:
– a number of directly involved students, attending different courses of the partners’ high schools, including disadvantaged subgroups. These pupils will participate in mobilties and in all steps of the creation of the mock firm.
– a larger number of indirectly involved students, that will take advantage of the work of their peers to enrich their skills and curriculum, both during the period of the project and later on. Indeed, the project is meant to be analysed and used by future pupils in our schools as well.
The results expected from the whole project are:
– Increased interest in the less motivated students leading to a possible decrease of ESL.
