Project Summary

Context/background of project
Students who learned math in informal settings, in addition to the classroom, were adept at problem-solving and using complex math in a variety of everyday situations.
The goal of our project is to foster the true innovation that comes with combining the mind of a scientist or technologist with that of an artist or designer, putting emphasis on STEAM — the educational discipline that engages students around the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math
Objectives of your project
O1 To contribute to the development of students’ key competences
O2 To enrich participants’ intercultural awareness through the cooperation and Communication with people from different cultures
O3 In the longer term, to ascertain whether a project on Maths and Art with outdoor activities may influence our schools positively
O4 To improve STEAM competence
Priorities and topics
School education: Increasing the level of achievement and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
School education:Reinforcing the development of key competences
Horizontal: Supporting individuals in acquiring and developing basic skills and key competences

ICT, Key competences- basic skills, Creativity and culture
Number and profile of participant
104 students from Italy, Finland, Turkey, Spain and Portugal; among them 40 will be selected with fewer opportunities (economic obstacles- educational difficulties)
The project staff (Maths and Art teachers) of each of the five countries. Two of them (for each country) will be involved during the mobilities.
These two mentioned groups will take part to the mobilities.
Other teachers of each school will participate to the Twinspace, while other school staff will help when a specific task is required.
The parents of the students involved in the project will be an active part of it, during the whole project life cycle
-the tourist office will be involved in the creation of Math City Maps leaflets
-local craftsmen will be involved in the creation of Art&Maths artistic objects
Description of activities;
A touristic guide with the MapCityMap (https://mathcitymap.eu/en/) trail that will be composed by individual Mathematical tasks in artistic places will be created in each of the towns involved in the mobilities (and translated in English and in the other 5 partner languages), to be presented to the local tourist offices
Three different topics related to Math and Art will be addressed by the partners, who will work in pairs. These activities will be carried out between the mobilities, and the related workshops for the other students will be held during each mobility.
Visits to cultural heritage places related to the main Maths & Art topics
Creation of artistic objects that combine Maths/Arts topics (c) and traditional local craft.
Methodology to be used in carrying out the project;
The project partners will have common tasks, as well as specific responsibilities, like:
-to implement the plan
-to produce the end products by means of collaboration, information exchange and material Exchange
-to make decision making a common process
-to monitor, and to evaluate -to disseminate the project activities, their results and implement good practices in school, in their community and in the wider educational community
-to update the eTwinning Twinspace
Specific responsibilities:
Coordinator (IT)
-introduce the Math City Map portal to the partners
-scheduling the Maths and Arts activities related to the main topics: the golden ratio, the Infinity, the fractals.
-to coordinate the implementation of the Project
-to monitor and to update, together with the other partners the project Twinspace
Partners:
Test of the Math City Map trails during the mobilities
Create art objects related to Math and Art topicsPrepare workshops for the students related to one of the Art and Maths topics
Take charge of the local programme of project activities and cultural events
Final results:
Creation of art objects related to Math and Art topics, taking in account the local craft traditions

presentations, photo-stories, photo books,
brochures, short videos, project website, eTwinning promotion
Impact:
Fulfillment of this project will enrich school curriculum, school life, personal assessment of students, their studying abilities, future carriers and, as a whole – their future life.
Besides, they will learn how to respect the others. They will have a new point in their development – that of a future European person who has a good life and helps the others to have it too.They will improve their language skills, the ability to work in teams, even international ones.Their families and friends and their community will be affected by the project as well.
