Project Summary
This project “Best practices for reducing the bulling and school dropout rates” aims at raising awareness about the existence of the culture of bullying in its many forms and how it can be related to school dropout among students, parents, school staff and community in order to enhance cooperation, find the proper tools for preventing and managing it. This will lead to the development of pro-social behavior, ensuring a state of well being that can determine a decrease of the dropout rate.The overall goal of the project is to reduce school drop-out in all 6 European school partners by sharing anti-bullying best practices using arts and other complementary practices experienced in each partner school. This will be achieved through Short term pupils exchange and joint staff training.
The project proposes o multi-sectorial approach by involving stakeholders form local and regional levels from all 6 countries involved in the project. . The direct target groups O involves the direct participation of 6 partner countries with 6 participating schools.The total number of participants will include 10 school staff, 4 pupils participating to school exchanges/mobility/country.Their age group is 11-15 years old. An average number of 100 target students per country together with their parents (between 100 and 200 persons) will be involved in the of activities of the project. They will participate in workshops, seminars, lessons observation, documenting visits, will give presentations and other activities in order to achieve the objectives of the project. They will also strengthen cross-border cooperation and develop their ability to meet new challenges through organizing the necessary mobilization activities for partnerships.The indirect groups: teachers, school staff, other students and parents, NGOs, education institutions .
The General Objective of the project is to reduce the bullying rate by 7% and the school dropout rate by 3 % in all partner schools.
That will be achieved through 4 specific objectives:
-increasing students self-esteem
– strengthening the interactive teaching skills of school teachers in order to prevent bullying behavior
-reducing absenteeism and increasing students motivation to go to school
-raising awareness about the culture of bullying and in its many forms and why it shouldn’t lead to school dropout
The activities are numerous and each country has added value to the project based on its experience, but also all the participating countries had common 3 projects that strengthen the idea of unity for fighting bullying practices that can lead to school dropout.
In o, the participants will learn how use recycled materials to create artistic products that send a message about values such as: freedom, tolerance, non-discrimination, solidarity, cooperation, and team spirit. Also teachers will be trained during workshops and seminars with local specialists in the field of Sociology and Child care.
In Turkey will be delivered 2 webinars for training the participating teachers within the project on how to use technology to improve their teaching and create appealing lessons for the students. b) workshops
Macedonia will hold presentations and seminars “Why You Shouldn’t bully?”, ,”Making changes”, lesson observation, artistic events, documenting visits that will lead to realisation of booklets and pictures exhibitions related to the theme of the project.
The Secondary School ” Konstantin Velichkov” from Bulgaria will hold seminars related to the the project in cooperation with sociologists and Child Care people. Also artistic activities promoting traditional arts will be carried out in order for the students to learn practical skills such as painting, folk dances, cooking, sewing as ways of combating bullying practices that can influence the school dropout.
Romania will organize video workshops – short movies and song video-clips, script, shooting sessions, post production in Premiere Pro in order to help target groups release emotions and release anxiety and to transfer a personal manifest in community
The activities held in Italy aim at raising awareness about the culture of bullying in its many forms and school dropout among teachers, students, and parents through the use of literature and music can help increase self esteem among students.
The results of the project will include:
– an artistic product displayed in each partner school raising awareness about bullying; the importance of education
– the target group will organize and participate in 1 anti violence campaign, Free Bullying Day
– an increased number of 3 % students will pursue their education
– 96 students and 72 teachers who will have participated in school exchanges
– collection of project outcomes consisting in presentations, pictures, movies, posters and drawings, booklets, Social media, Padlet.
The impact of the project will be at local, regional and European level by strengthening the project European dimension.
