Project Summary

The project “Cirkulation” is born from the meeting of three social circus associations, The Serious Road Trip – Humanitarian Connection Bisontine, The Serious Road Trip – Romania and Mardin Genclik ve Kültür Dernegi. These three associations work to enable disadvantaged populations to access circus as a means of non-formal education. They use to make circus workshops with refugees or populations discriminated either by their ethnic and / or social origin or by a mental or physical handicap.
“Cirk’ulation” aims to set up exchanges of practices to spread the knowledge and skills of each in these areas and improve the teaching methods to adapt to these types of target audience. Emphasis will be placed on creative research, an essential element for freeing spirits and producing authentic and meaningful shows. The project is aimed at 10 participants from each association experienced in social circus and eager to deepen the pedagogical methods to better serve these particular audiences. The activities are varied between seminars of exchange of practices, joint experimentation of creation and diffusion of shows, role-playing during specific workshops, organization of event to promote the circus … The methodology used is based on the sharing and listening to others, experimentation and teamwork. “CirKulation” aims to improve the quality of educational workshops in social circus and the multiplication of them to reach a maximum of people. As well as broadcasting through festival-type events intended for a wide audience, through rendering workshops and performances to allow the general public to realize the differences and ignored abilities of often demonized population. In the long run, the project will contribute to the social inclusion of all and the acceptance of the other with its differences.
