Project Summary

The media cooperative Steinfurt (Mediencooperative Steinfurt e. V.) and the task force of the youth council in the German-speaking Community assigned with the enhancement of open youth work (Arbeitsgruppe Offene Jugendarbeit des Rates der deutschsprachigen Jugend) developped together a training programme for the positioning, distinction, and visibility of open youth work in a rural environment. This training programme was composed of several modules which were separately tested and evaluated as prototype projects during transnational meetings between youth workers. Based on the results, these modules were going to be developed for a practical use in trainings and published in a training manual “Youth work between meadows and fields. A bilateral contribuation for qualification of open youth work in rural areas”. The manual was going to be introduced to representatives from both higher education and politics during a multiplier event. Afterwards, it will be possible to use it in higher education organisations as well as in organisations supporting open youth work to encourage the reflexion from youth workers about their tasks. After completion of the project, the manual will be available for the public and can be used for the instruction of youth workers active in the open youth work in a rural environment.
