Project Summary

In 2014 Liveform and Rollespilsfabriken made up a team of larp organizers from both Poland and Denmark to make the larp College of Wizardry. While there are many seminars and conferences where larpmakers from different countries meet, this is to our knowledge the first instance where organizer teams from two organizations in two different countries in Europe have teamed up to make an actual larp.With the participatory nature of larp, we believe that this format has a great potential for bringing young people together and form strong bonds accross the borders. However, we need to develop more methodology on how to make larps when the organizers are from different cultures, in different countries and speaking different languages.Through the Culture on a Broomstick project, we will continue working with developing these methods in organizations, as we cooperate on the creation of new larps together, and we will involve young people in a series of workshops where we work specificly with sharing ideas, testing out methods and discussing what works and doesn’t work. Our aim is that these participants will make larps with organizers from different countries, which in turn again will recruit players form different communities that will play togheter and form networks.We will work on day-to-day basis in the two organizations with involving young people in the project, but the main activities will be five workshops where we will share knowledge, get input from other fields and work together wil actual larp production projects. We will also make two open events where we will share results and discuss with the wider community.We believe that we will develop new methods that make cross-border larp production easier and more fruitful, something that thousands of people accross Europe can make use of. We believe that the young people involved in this will use their knowledge and networks to create more larps with organizers from different countries, bringing not just themselves, but hundreds of people together to play their larps.We hope that Culture on a Broomstick can be a starting point for a new tradition of collaborating accross the borders not just on larp theory, but also on actual larp design.
