Project Summary

This project came about as a result of previous Comenius partnerships. The objectives of this project were to: train staff to create, maintain and develop a Virtual Learning Environment ie a Moodle. This provided a safe, password protected environment for staff and pupils to communicate, work together and exhibit, exchange and evaluate their completed work.
The curriculum focus used to drive the Moodle forward was to be the acquisition of a second language and teaching/learning about the environment and environmental issues.
The project was child-centred right from the beginning with pupils involved in planning the activities through the setting up of an Erasmus Plus committee in each school.
Partners came from six European countries some of whom had previously worked together on past projects. Countries participating were: Ireland, Northern Ireland, Finland, Spain, Greece and Italy.
As a result of the project staff and pupils gained knowledge, skills and competencies which enabled them to use a Virtual Learning Environment, and to successfully obtain Green Flag status for their institutions. Staff and pupils travelled and experienced the culture and the education system of the hosting partner institutions and we believe this experience will benefit their Lifelong Learning.
