Project Summary
The main aim of our INTERNATIONAL YOUTH INITIATIVE was to organize different art and cultural activities and events in Narva, Daugavpils (we have changed the town, because we have met young people from there, who were ready to be active; Daugavpils and Narva are two similar towns with its economical structure and number of given opportunities) and Riga to make the leisure time of young people more various and useful in order to develop competences, discuss important social issues via art, and to make our communities more attractive in general. The project lasted from September 2017 till August 2018.
Within the project we have organized events in all around the Narva (non-formal learnind center Vitatiim, shopping mall Fama, Art Residency, art gallery, cafe Muna, Narva Castle, art club Ro-Ro etc; and we have involved more local people (in the beginning we had around 10 team members, but in the end of the project more that 20 people were ready ti help us with organizing events). Young people, who were involved in the project, are Narva citizens, 13-20 y.o., they were very active and helpful. The same results are in Latvia, especially in Daugavpils, where the responsible group of young people have motivated a lot of other youngsters to develop themselves.
Results and outcomes:
1. More young people are encouraged in self-organizing different cultural and art activities in Narva and Daugavpils.
2. Young people discussed important social issues (tolerance, consumption, patriotism) via art, became more aware about it and have formed personal opinions.
3. Narva became more visible and a more attractive youth town via Festival of Youth Culture
4. We have developed skills and competences and empowered our peers to do the same via self-organizing different cultural and art activities in Narva and Daugavpils.
5. More young people in EST and LV are aware about their opportunities (Erasmus+, EVS, etc.)
Learning outcomes. Competences what we have developed:
– Digital competence: spreading information, work with equipment
– Communication in mother tongue: communication with partnersstakeholders, will have learned about business communication
– Initiative and enterpreneurship: implemenation of ideas into life, creativity, readiness to risk, management
– Social competence: work with and for the community, communication with different people from different fields
– Cultural competence: self-expression and mindfulness.
The first group of participants is our initiative groups from Narva, Daugavpils and Riga. We are young people aged 14-21 y.o, who like to be active and are interested in personal development, culture and art.
The second group of participants is young people from our communities aged 14-26 y.o. who will participate and will be the audience in our events and activities.
Totally we have planed to involve at least 1500 people from Narva, Daugavpils and Riga and in our opinion we have reached the goal.
The project consisted from partners meetings, local activities and events and Festival of youth culture.
We have used non-formal learning methods and different kinds of art as methods.
