Project Summary
The exchange program between Nannestad VGS and Lycee Simone Veil is an ongoing 6-year-old project between the two schools. The project began with a shared goal of creating a transnational learning environment for foreign language learning and developed further by looking how focus areas are handled in different countries.
The focus of the project is decided by the participating students using eTwinning as a transnational learning platform. We believe that this sense of ownership motivates the students and encourages a sense of pride in presenting their very own version across borders. The project involved 24 students from each country, 48 total. The goal is for the exchange to benefits the entire school as the visiting students are invited into several classrooms to share their experience and unique perspectives. This is once again to build intercultural competence and promote transnational relations.
We firmly believe that understanding different perspectives helps build an understanding of democratic principles. We use a lot of time during the year to let our students work and communicate with each other across borders to help build relations and work on their project, for the student exchange to have optimal results. It is important to us that the students are invited to each other home to get an authentic impression of different values and to help build social relations that may last a lifetime. The benefits of the mobility period are tracked on school websites and presented to new students at the school to build interest and to involve the students in following projects. Finally, the projects eTwinning page is completed at the end of the school year, and experiences are discussed and transferred to a continuation of the project with next years students.
