Project Summary

Climate change is here. As its impact intensifies over time, it is today’s children and young people who will face the worst effects.
Young people around the world have begun to fight back. Take Greta Thunberg, for example. In 2018, she sparked a global youth movement demanding greater action from governments to combat climate change. Now millions of people are marching to show their support. Young people everywhere are using their skills to speak out for climate action.
Climate change is increasingly recognized as an emerging crisis that requires radical and immediate action. The changes needed range from the local to the global: from the daily activities of individuals to economic and social development and new forms of global governance
Our project is about environmental issues. Although it is a familiar topic, future generations will constantly need to develop their own environmental awareness. Through this international project, young people and youth workers can discover how the environment is one of the great global challenges of our time, and how solutions can and should be found together with other countries.
Furthermore, they will become aware of the fact that while sustainable living is a global effort, efforts must also be made at the local level. Therefore, environmental education, concrete sustainable action and environmental awareness are the main concerns of the project.
Our project aims to bring together different non-profit youth organisations in Europe, working on environmental issues, in order to improve international cooperation, increase knowledge about nature, raise awareness about environmental problems and strengthen the participation of young people in environmental activities and decisions.

Objectives:
– To provide youth organisations with tools and methods to involve young people and promote active citizenship and care for the environment.
– To train youth workers with efficient tools and resources to involve young people in environmental education in the community.
– Empower and support young people to participate in decision making related to climate change
– Promote the commitment of young people to the principles of environmental conservation
– Encourage local actions by organizations and youth for the protection of the environment and the rational use of the Earth’s resources.
– To share and discuss ideas, practices and methods with other European organisations on environmental protection
– Support NGOs in raising awareness of environmental and climate change issues

Target group:
– Youth associations, exchanging good practices with other European associations in environmental protection
– Youth worker – by identifying tools and resources that are effective in working with local youth, providing solutions, training and other activities to increase youth participation in environmental education.
– Local youth – by involving them in activities aimed at helping and protecting the environment.

Activities:
– E-book containing good practices on activities, workshops, resources, campaigns to fight climate change and raise awareness at local level in different countries.
– Theoretical-practical training course (ICT tools, development of activities, leadership) for the youth workers of the organizations on how to support, teach and guide the local youth to create activities at local level to raise awareness of the community on the project’s issues.
– Workshop at local level, aimed at young people in which they will learn ICT tools, and how to develop an environmental activity from 0 to raise awareness in the communities. Each partner will organize in their country 1 workshop, in total we will have (5).
– Local activities focused on raising awareness and motivating the community about the importance of environmental protection and climate change. Each country will organize one youth-led activity, in total we will have (5)
– Creation of a website integrated with Social Networks containing a MATERIALS DATABASE TRANSLATED into the national languages of all partners to promote and encourage wide exploitation and dissemination.
– 4 transnational meetings of the project.
