Project Summary

Under the PIAAC research older people haven`t enough English and IT knowledge to use them in everyday life. So, the objective of project is to improve the non- formal adults’ education, this process connecting with smart technologies and creativity, cooperating between partners from Lithuania, Czech Republic and Norway.
The tasks were to give for adults attractive and motivating education methods, to strengthen the non- formal education and service offerings, linked to the smart technologies and to provide knowledge and skills, which promote citizenship and allow actively participate in the social life. This experience to share between Project partners and stakeholders.
6 organizations, which have non-formal education function at their everyday activity, took part at this project: 3 libraries, executing lifelong learning for local communities, 2 third age universities and science centre, which execute the regular learnings for adults.
The main target group were adults from 45 years old and older who live in the project activities places. At every country a group of older adults was formed: In Czech and Lithuania these people are the members of Third age universities. In Norway – public libraries readers. About 2724 persons were targeted by the Project activities without grants: librarians and readers, Third age universities` members, local policy makers and so on.
83 adults at three countries 22 months (2 learning years) learned English and IT. Learning was not only theorethical, the practical exercises were too.
During the project 4 transnational meetings, 3 learning/teaching training activities, 3 virtual learnings took part.
Very useful and working have been 4 transnational working groups meetings. Despite that all partners communicated by Facebook group, SKYPE and e-mail intensively, to meet and discuss, to solve some problems was easier and faster.
3 learning/teaching activities took part in 3 countries. Every host country prepared the demonstratation of their learning methods and organized common IT and English lessons for participants from 3 countries. The students became guides and showed their native places in English. It was nice, motyvating experience for all participants. Some methods project partners changed and implemented in their country.
The learning/teaching continuation was virtual learning. During 3 virtual meetings with SKYPE helped seniors to tell each other about their towns, nature, about their families and hobbies. Before virtual meetings partners prepared their folk songs to English and sang together during translations.
The main project result – not only the IT and English knowledge of participants were improved, but participants have got practical skills. These skills help to solve the everyday problems through IT and English knowledge. The digital exclusion has decreased, the older people can feel more active citizens, the part of e-community.
