Project Summary

With the project “Educ-ART. Education through Art” we want to show the potential of art as a pedagogical vehicle for education and the personal and emotional development of young people in these times of change in which we find ourselves. Young people today need more than ever the ability to understand, adapt and create sustainable solutions for their future. For this they need emotional intelligence, empathy and sensitivity. The development of emotional education is a basic skill when it comes to equipping them with the tools to function in the world, to adapt to changes and to be able to provide themselves with the well-being that each one needs.

In addition, for this new scenario caused by COVID-19, the talents, experiences and collaboration of all groups are needed more than ever in a global sense of inclusion, it is about the need for all the good that each one has for contributing to be able to move forward all together as a society. Thus, inclusion and diversity is one of the axes of this project in a transversal way.

The aim of this project is the development of innovative methodologies of education through art and creativity. We seek to provide the educational system with tools that allow them to improve their pedagogical resources and facilitate the development of their creativity and their social and work skills for young people. Art is an invaluable tool for this purpose as it enables us to work with the sensitive and emotional areas of our being in a direct way.

The way to achieve our goals consists of the creation of educational proposals with art as a pedagogical tool. Each of the three partners will choose the artistic discipline with which they usually work and will create during the months that the project lasts a series of practical workshops that address areas necessary for youth development in times of social change such as: values, sensitivity, intelligence emotional, diversity, inclusion and creativity. These proposals will be shared with the rest of the associations and participants in the training meetings that will be held in each of the countries. All this will be documented and compiled in a documentary video that will be distributed on different online audiovisual platforms with free access and exhibited at the Ciudad de Soria International Short Film Competition.

All the project associations have, in turn, local partners from the culture and education sector, who will actively participate and implement and disseminate the results through their work and communication networks.

Five young people from each association will participate plus one coordinator per group. It is an inclusive and open project where we will have many voices and approaches. We will have the participation of young people who are faced with obstacles to access these types of resources, both due to disability and economic, social or cultural difficulties. We will carry out three exchanges of good practices where we will share the results in a practical way and we will make a documentary where all the proposals are reflected so that it can serve as inspiration and work material for agents, institutions and individuals from the educational, cultural and creative world.
