Project Summary

According to media reports, there is an increased demand for well-educated workers due to the economic upswing, but sometimes this is not achievable. The aim of the Project Peer Education is to help female students acquire the social skills necessary for working life, which are expected in addition to the professional requirements, in order to increase career opportunities in the European community. They need special support in the field of language instruction and a high degree of support in acquiring social skills, thereby reducing the rate of early drop-out rates and ensuring their integration into European culture. Students in professional life expect to work on projects with different project teams outside the usual business organization, this form of cooperation needs to be taught. It is important for us to work with different European countries to increase the quality of instruction.
From the evaluations of the previous project, and the behavior of the students in recent years, one can see that there has been an increasing change of values, which differs significantly from the previous values. In order to find measures to counteract possible negative value development, this project is important to us. The results of the project should serve as a starting point for our pedagogical work in order to incorporate more positive elements, which lead to a positive value attitude into the curriculum. We believe there is potential in every student and that learning can be fun, which is why peer learning has come into being. Students help students and all involved acquire knowledge and important social skills. The objective is to use the training of teachers and students participating in the project applying peer learning, eTwinning and the learning platform Moodle internationally. Training students to become tutors for the modules – value education, social skills and language proficiency. Through the project “Peer Learning” and the timely implementation or examination of this in everyday school life, all participants acquire basic skills that they can use in the further professional / school life.
The aim is to use peer learning as a method to promote self-determination and participation of the student as self-initiative, self-determined and autonomous, are the foreground of peer learning. The aim of the work is to develop teaching materials to help schools achieve an open approach to the different values / attitudes for the pupils concerned. The selected five partner schools from Germany, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Austria are all vocational schools. With this project, the already developed concepts of the individual schools are to be linked and further developed. For this purpose, as a first step, the current state is to implement surveys at the respective schools with a questionnaire developed by the project partners in order to then derive improvements.
In the peer learning process, tutors will be trained, then will teach other students their knowledge in the fields of values, social and intercultural competencies (getting to know other cultures), language skills and communication skills (foreign language use), and the necessary skills and abilities (interview content and application letters). The numerous results are available to all partners to show to the school public. In the course of the project, learning, teaching, training activities will be held for teachers and students and conferences will be held at all partner schools. Communication between students takes place via eTwinning and social media.
At the end of the project, a workshop will be held. The aim will be to aplly the “Peer Education method” and try out the materials that have been developed with the help of this workshop, to reflect on them (feedback culture) and then to optimize them. The aim is to reduce imbalances in education, so that the new citizens (pupils, children of refugees, and migrants) in their new home have real chances to assert themselves later in the labor market. In addition, the active citizenship of all should be promoted so that they can face their new home with positive feelings (acceptance and understanding). The project results will be implemented in schools and continuously optimized. After completion of the project work, the products will be available, without restriction, to every school with similar problems.
