Project Summary
This innovative project Exchange of practice, outreach, and motivation for the empowerment and social inclusion of adults (ExPr0M). It was proposed for two years as a cross-sectoral project, for exchange of good practices working towards improving and extending the supply of high quality learning opportunities tailored to the needs of individuals who are low-skilled or low qualified for a job. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the project was extended for another 10 months until September 2, 2021, as the last planned meeting for the purpose of training activities in Cork failed to be realized in the original term. Finally the meeting was organised as online meeting in June 2021.
The three key objectives collaboratively addressed by the project partners were as follows:
– to improve outreach initiatives to integrate people into educational and training services.
– to improve strategies and methodologies for guidance to support access and promote retention, completion, and certification among individuals at risk of being marginalized from society.
– to disseminate new methods on conducting outreach, guidance, and motivation to promote the competence among educators.
The projects consortium was composed of five diverse organizations throughout the EU: EDUCA International o.p.s (Czech Republic), Ljudska universe Radovljiva (Slovenia), Vaasan Yliopisto (Finland), Centro Publico de Education de Personas Adultas Miguel Hernandez (Spain), and Social and Health Education Project (Ireland). Each organisation has a strong and proven track history of providing services within the field of adult education and a firm commitment to addressing the evolving challenges in the areas of outreach, motivation, and guidance. A total of 15 employees (3 from each country) were involved in the cross-sectoral project. During host visits the host country invited additional local participants to participate in training, workshops, and field work.
Implemented activities include 5 three-day TTLs designed to identify and share best practices and practical tools and methods that can be disseminated and widely replicated. To achieve this project, workshops, field visits, training and dissemination of the methods presented were used in order to achieve the objectives. In addition, part of these meetings were used to promote feedback and to enhance the exchange of experiences.
Utilising a range of methodologies to carry out the exchange of best practice the process will be documented, assessed, and reviewed to ensure that the proposed goal of exchanging ideas is met continually throughout the project duration. This includes publishing materials and methodologies collected, training staff on methodologies obtained, written report and published report easily accessible through each respective organisations website and through social media portals.
Using a range of methodologies to carry out the exchange of best practices, all information was documented, evaluated and reviewed to ensure that the proposed goal of exchanging experience could be used for the practical work of individual partners throughout the project and beyond. This includes publishing materials in an easily accessible form through the websites of the relevant organisations involved in the project and through social media portals.
The expected outcome of this cross-sectoral collaborative project is the strengthening and coherent knowledge base of approaches, methodologies and best practices, motivation and their guidance in involving adult participants in training. Potential long-term benefits include organisational capacity to better address the training needs of the unskilled and unemployed in the inclusion process.
