Project Summary

The TEHNIC project brought together a partnership from 4 different European regions, Alba County – Center Region, Romania, Brandenburg Region – Germany, Perugia Region and Puglia – Italy, through a multi-organizational consortium formed by the Alba County School Inspectorate, Alba County Council, Technical High Schools “Alexandru Domșa” Alba Iulia and “Timotei Cipariu” Blaj. In the partner regions, a large number of enterprises in the industrial field need skilled labor force at the level of production standards in various industrial fields.
The statistical analyses from the regions of the partner institutions show similar situations: the schools do not provide the skilled labor force needed for the developing industrial areas, and the young people do not attend these schools due to the lack of information and prejudices. Thus, the technical and professional high schools have a small number of students who present modest or poor results, most do not pass the final exams. Poor career guidance services lead to unemployment and/or unskilled labor.
This is the context in which our partnership was created and aimed at increasing the attractiveness of VET education, by improving the degree of professional education for students and their parents by developing an effective strategy to promote and guide students for their career, to grow by 5. % the number of students who will do professional studies, at the partner schools of the project, during the project development period (2017 and 2019). To achieve this objective, the following specific objectives have been set:
1. Improving the skills of the teachers involved in the project, to advise and guide the students and to promote vocational education;
2. Improving the impulse of the students to transform into professional vocational education, through an active knowledge of the specifics of the occupations and by the complete information on the quality of vocation and scholarship;
3. Develop a continuous and coherent collaboration between the school and the business environment, by creating a joint action program.
The target group was made up of VET teachers, trainers/training centers of VET schools, school counselors; VET students and future high school graduates; Managers of schools/training centers. Project participants included: members of the project teams; teachers, students, parents, representatives of companies, local public authorities.
To fulfill the three objectives proposed, partners from Umbria Training Center, Italy and Bildungsgesellschaft mbH Pritzwalk, Germany, have been trained for teachers, managers, trainers and local public administration staff, school inspectors involved in VET, from the partner teams in the project.
They were organized
– Activities for implementing the methodologies, which were then included in the Guidance Guide.
– Activities organized to obtain the results of the project, consisting of working meetings, workshops, study visits, exchanges of best practices, documentary activities, analysis and synthesis, document preparation.
– Activities for promoting VET education workshops with specific topics, organizing a VET day in each participating school, organizing a CARAVAN for promoting VET schools.
Four transnational project meetings were held, during which each stage of project implementation was discussed and developed in detail.
The tangible results of the project were: A Notebook of professional occupations; An E-book with success stories of former VET students; Action Plan to increase the attractiveness of VET; Project site; The virtual museum and the intellectual product of the project, the Career and Counseling Guide ”for VET; The information bulletins, after each transnational project meeting.
The implementation of the project was based on a set of working procedures regarding organization and management of the partnership team, responsibilities, human and material resources, implementation terms, communication between partners, monitoring and evaluation
The impact of the project on the target groups was a significant one:
– on VET students: they have changed their attitude towards school and professional training.
– the students from the final classes of the secondary schools and their parents became interested in the VET educational offers
– economic agents have begun to become significantly involved in the material and financial support of VET schools
The sustainability of the project will be ensured by the implementation of the Action Plan for the promotion of VET.
A timetable has been prepared for the period 2018-2023, organizing local workshops and meetings held in the three countries involving relevant stakeholders.
All the methods in the guidance guide will continue to be applied, given that they have proven effective. This provides sustainability to the project.
