Project Summary
The project entitled « France and Spain: two European countries sharing a common History» will be conducted by two schools, a Spanish one situated in Andalusia and a French one, situated in Le Bourget.
What matters the most in this project is the European cultural heritage, both material (architecture, arts, monuments) and immaterial (social customs, skills, rituals and festivals) that will be studied through both the similarities and differences that exist in these two countries, making them alike and at the same time, different from one another.
Looking at things from such a perspective will lead all of us to develop both a European conscience and identity. To do so, we will focus on what it means to be a European citizen and on the role of the different European institutions.
The objectives we mean to achieve at the end of this project are quite various.
First, and as previously stated, we would like to develop the notion of a European identity.
We, also, would like to enable our students to become more autonomous and to acquire better linguistic skills, both in French for the Spanish students and in Spanish for the French students.
What we would also like to do is to have some impact on students who tend to drop out of school by including them to this project and making them find a meaning back to their being at school.
Social inclusion is also one of our prerogatives. Indeed, students with visual impairments (also known as “section ULIS” in French) will take part to this project.
Finally, this project would also enable the teachers to exchange on their teaching methods and skills and to give each other advice, which can only be enriching.
Forty students will take part to this project and four trips over this two-year project are to happen: the Spanish students will come twice to France and will be going to Brussels as well during one of these two trips and the French students will, also, go to Spain twice.
Thanks to the application « Trello », we are going to set up an online schedule to keep a track of what is done by each of us and we are, also, going to use different tools like eTwinning and Skype, for example, to communicate regularly and keep each other posted on the different steps of the project.
The students taking part to the project will have to create a blog and then, a newspaper thanks to the application « Madmagz ».
A portfolio, with the different skills meant to be achieved over the course of this project, will be used to assess the work done by the students.
A Europass Mobility Certificate as well as a Language Passport will be delivered to the students, at the end of the project, assessing the linguistic skills acquired.
We expect this project to have many positive impacts on the students, as well as on the teachers and the schools.
We hope that this project will help our students, amongst other things, to assert, enrich and open themselves to the world.
We hope that it will enable the teachers to improve their teaching methods and skills as well as their ability to conduct such a project.
We also would like this project to give a European dimension to our schools, to improve the school climate and to reinforce the links between the different members of the school and the local authorities.
We hope to create a long-lasting relationship between all the actors of this project, to create a project dynamic, as well as to pave the way for a real opening towards Europe.
