Project Summary

The « prevention of dropouts through guidance » project involves 3 partners with a variety of expenriences in foreign exchanges.
The Robert-d’Arbrissel high school in Chemillé has already conducted 4 internships project in Europe (KA1) for bac pro students.
The Primo Levi high school near Brescia has already participated in a KA2 project.
The Saint-Joseph high school in Chemillé is new to this type, but will be well supported by its partners.

Because all 3 of them are comprised of students on a vocational path, who are at risk of dropping out and for whom guidance is essential, these schools have decided to join forces in a foreign exchange project.

We aim to remove cultural (prejudice against cultures, foreign language deficits), psychological (fear of travel) and financial (family resources) obstacles that can make these students young people with less opportunities.

The activities will entail a student exchange over a short period (one week). The groups will be accompanied by two teachers. For the exchange to Italy, the 2 French schools will each depart 20 students, in April 2019 and April 2020. The Italian partner will come to France with two groups of 20 students in May 2019 and 2020 respectively.

These activities meet several goals regarding the students (broaden GUIDANCE strategies by looking at trades from a diffrent angle in another part of Europe ; promote vocational training, discover other cultures) and regarding the strategies of schools that want to coordinate their tools for the prevention of dropouts, extend their network of trading supervisors abroad and boost recruitment by showcasing foreign exchanges.

During the exchanges, in Brescia and Chemillé, students will discover trades related to individual services, retail and tourism, with the assistance of local professionnals and agencies.

As a final product of the programme, we envision a photographic exhibition produced by students from all 3 schools that will showcase the diffrences and specificities of trades as practiced in France and Italy.

During these exchanges a coordination of tools used by the 3 schools to prevent dropout sis also planned. The Robert d’Arbrissel high school, whose innovative system « Path to Success » (PPR) is supported by the ESF (European Social Fund), will share its expertise and in return will benefit from these educational exchanges.

As it is accustomated to European projects, this high school knows the value of good communication with its partners, families, communities and professionals. The preparation as well as the assessment of the project will occur with regular contacts, face-to-face between the two schools from the same township and by skype, email, phone and the eTwinning platform with the Italian partner.

Beyond the project, the work done on GUIDANCE and the prevention of DROPOUTS will continue in all 3 schools for the benefit of the students.
