Project Summary
The project we propose originates from the awareness that the school community must increasingly and better equip so that the acquisition of social and citizenship skills, for students and for their future, becomes the main road towards a serious maturation process.
The project will be an opportunity and an instrument with which the school is open to the surrounding world, with which it establishes a dialectical, critic relationship and, above all, which is stamped with the sense of the vigilant responsibility.
We believe that crucial issue in order that those conditions can be determined is the journey and its most varied and complex joints: in fact, it recalls the theme of the epochal migrations of the past history and the most tragic events of the contemporary history and it raises the crucial problem of the defense of human rights and of respect for socio-cultural, linguistic, ethnic and religious diversity.
In the various activities of the project, students will have the prominent role of analyzing and critically questioning to reach very objective interpretations; they will do it practicing the abilities of base possessed so that they are transformed into real skills, but also experimenting with methods and innovative teaching practices. The use of laboratory practice, the promotion of research activities, the realization of investigations, the preparation of multimedia synthesis, the creative writing, the theatrical performance will function as effective tools of a didactic strategy whose purpose is to make students aware of the importance of knowing the reality around them and to try to change it, by overcoming stereotypes and prejudices.
The involved students, about 200, are those that show communicative-relational difficulties, those that against curricular activities manifest unenthusiastic attitudes, those who do not achieve positive results, but also those who want to explore new horizons of knowledge, far from a static and unproductive mode to study. To encourage these students to a project that not only involves the study of reconstruction of historical stages, research and creation of final original products, means to raise strong and deep motivations toward engagement in them, to enhance their unexpressed potentialities, to mature in each of them the interest in what surrounds them and to guide them to more innovative ways of study and, therefore, more productive from the didactic-educational point of view.
Teachers from partner schools will have the opportunity to meet and compare the pedagogical practices that they are experiencing and they will experience; they will be promoters of the process of self-analysis and self-assessment so that the exchange of ideas, opinions and ways of seeing is not just a statement but a real and practiced cooperation through which they can share and make common methodologies and stimulate the acquisition of social and citizenship skills.
The relay race of writing and the final representative performance will be the figure of a shared participation between students and the closing event of a common path, riddled by moments of growth and improvement of their skills.
