Project Summary
Background of the project:
Europe needs more cohesive and inclusive societies which allow citizens to play an active role in democratic life. Education and youth work is key to prevent violent radicalization by promoting common European values, fostering social integration, enhancing inter-cultural understanding and a sense of belonging to a community. According to the crisis the refugees, migrants and etc. diversified groups need to be trained and integrated into the society they are planning to stay. To solve this problem adults educators need to extend and to develop the necessary competencies also to have high-quality learning opportunities by special study program to be developed for their competences development. New challenges will rise up and new competencies are necessary for the adults’ educators working with the migrants, refugees and etc diversified groups by supporting and helping with their integration to the society as it will be an important instrument to promote the inclusion of people with disadvantaged.

DiSoCi have encouraged competences development for adult’s educators working with migrants, refugees and diversified groups in Europe. The were no special programs for adult’s educators working with migrants, refugees and diversified groups. Education at all levels is a key part of the integration process for migrants. According to the Strategic framework – Education & Training, 2020 Adult learning is crucial for migrants as they may require different skills from those that they used in their countries of origin for their new careers. It can also help equip people working with migrants with digital, social and civic competences, easing the integration process for everyone involved.
The analysis of national and EU reports showed that these problems are closely related with deficiency of adult learners tailored programs suitable for adult educators’ competences development, namely: sense of digital, social and civic competence on assessment and validation of informal and non-formal learning.
According to the data of the need analysis in European and partner countries national context, the following needs were addressed within the project to develop assessment model and to develop the program for competences development of adult educators’ working with migrants, refugees and diversified groups for totally 60 participants; to suggest the program to adult learners- migrants, refugees and etc. diversified groups, totally 60. The project objectives:
1. To evaluate the level of adult’s educator’s competencies to work with migrants and refugees;
2. To encourage the continuing and professional development of adult educator’s by using the innovative education models and Open education resources (OER) for their digital, social and civic competences development;
3. To increase the motivation and reduce disparities in learning outcomes of migrants, refugees and etc. diversified by suggesting a digital program for their competences development.
To meet the above-mentioned needs, the partnership prepared 3 intellectual outputs: assessment model (O1) http://disoci.eu/assesment-tool; study program (O2) http://disoci.eu/tp-for-educators; e-repository (O3) http://disoci.eu/e-repository
Supporting the idea of Opening Education, the project has developed open educational respources (OER) within e-Repository for Adult’s Educators (http://disoci.eu/e-repository), which is available in 4 languages.
Having new competences adults educators have designed 4 parts program (O3/A1-A4) : 5 OER for “Promoting of social entrepreneurship” (http://disoci.eu/node/288), 5 OER for “Promoting gender equality and diversity in order to protect human rights of migrants and refugees” (http://disoci.eu/node/290), 5 OER “Promoting personal development” (http://disoci.eu/node/287) and 5 OER for “Empowerment Integration of migrants into labour market ” (http://disoci.eu/node/289) and they are integrated to the European E- Repository with open access.
Target groups: adult educators; educators working with migrants, refugees and diversified groups were involved to the piloting. Mainly, the target members were migrants and their spouses in some cases that are currently unemployed and are in search of an occupation. Many of them do not speak English well.
This project was carried out trans-nationally because the challenges adult educators–practitioners; migrants, refugees a, d diversified groups is common across the EU. Thus solving the problems of unemployment and adult participation in education, are based on the best practices of the whole international partnership.
