Project Summary
The main goal of the project was to promote technical education through stronger cooperation between pre-secondary and technical secondary school. We wanted to show children from pre-secondary school, how interesting technical education is and what fantastic things they can do with new technology (CAD, 3D printer, 3D scanner, programming tools etc.). The secondary technical schools have the quite good equipment and can engage children from pre-secondary school to the technical education. We used our experience and results from previous projects. EU and national organisation spend a lot of energy preparing and distributing learning materials on the internet. During the project, we used some of these online IT sources, evaluated them and integrated into the learning process. Teachers participated in Open Online Courses like European Schoolnet Academy to learn about innovation in the classroom (www.europeanschoolnetacademy.eu). Teachers and students from secondary school together organisedlocal events (workshops, competitions and long-term courses) for children from pre-secondary school. They take photos and videos from the event, evaluate it and send the presentation about the events to the partners. Partners shared the ideas and good practice evaluated it and implemented in their schools. We used CLIL method to teach technical subjects in secondary school, to improve language skills and to motivate students to speak in English. As a result, they were able to communicate and discuss technical issues with partners from other countries. CLIL teachers prepared model lessons for teachers from other participating schools
about this method and how to use it in practice. During the realisation of the project, we realised that the most interesting events were workshops with Lego robots,
building and using 3D printers and excursions to the factories.
