Project Summary
The project „Stay in school, your job will be cool“ was focused on the prevention of Early School Leaving of students from disadvantaged environment and students with special needs. The age of target group is from 12 to 18 years old. These pupils are often labelled as in risk in terms of social exclusion and later can easily face to threat of segregation on the job market. Partnership was established between schools in Slovakia (project coordination), Czech republic, Poland and Romania. Our common problem was lack of general motivation among students during the basic school study, or lack of motivation to continue in study on a high school.
The prevention set in the project consists of strenghtening and expanding various skills and competences of students by the form of provided training modules (bulk of activities), which were divided into workshops organized by particular schools due to their specific competencies in the field. Training modules should strengthen certain skills, which will support students to finish basic school and will motivate them to select an appropriate secondary school and job orientation in the future.
Realized activities within training modules:
Module A : „Communication“
Secondary school Logopedicka, Ostrava, Czech republic
– workshop focused on communication skills
– visits of high schools and organizations
Modul B: „Hand crafts“
Zespół Szkół Integracyjnych w Radomiu, Poland
– workshop fucused on manual skills
– visits of high schools and organizations
– Dream job – activity focused on the process of selection a future job
Modul C: „Computer“
Colegiul National “Avram Iancu” Stei, Romania
– workshop focused on informatics and computer skills
– visits of high schools and organizations
Modul D: „Drama“
Spojena skola internatna Zdana, Slovakia
– workshop focused on art and drama (selfpresentation)
– visits of high schools and organizations
– final market – students presented their products made during the project duration
Based on other observations and surveys, it was found that workshops which were realized in the project had impact on strenghtening parcticipants skills and their continuous studying. There was also noticed, that students presented their willingness and interest to keep study on a high school once finish their current secondary school. Teachers who participated on the mobility projects adopted new methods of teaching and gained new contacts with teachers from partner shools. Parents of children who participated on the project also realized and started to understand importance of study for their children. Thanks to publicity and electronic media used to advertise the project activities, a wide public learnt more about program Erasmus + itself and about the need of the target children to keep study and their furhter integration into society.
Based on the furhter need to spread out results of the project, there was the „Guide manual“ created, where all the activities were recorded methodofogically. It is available now on-line and in libraries. This guide manual will help to motivate other teachers to create activities and to reach goals not limited to this project only. Representatives of partner schools agreed together about the need to continue in similar designed projects also in the future, and so on regional or international level.
