Project Summary
• Students nowadays often use the Internet in their daily lives, and the MinoMOOC project aimed to make use of these skills
through the creation of a MOOC, and therefore developed their skills in a very active way, in addition to developing their ICT,
cultural and linguistic skills in accordance with the requirements of the completion of compulsory schooling.
• The objectives were to create a MOOC by the students for the students and to develop common skills for leaving school:
cultural, linguistic and ICT skills. It was also an objective to develop an openness to others in the students, and to develop an
awareness of new modes of access to information and lessons (MOOC) which best prepared them for their future studies.
• Students from disadvantaged backgrounds: their Internet access was confined to games and research in the classroom. In
Greece, students with special needs participated in the project.
• The selection criteria were intended to be transparent: Students and parents were informed of the project, where the criteria
was communicated to all. Joint training was offered to students and teachers of the 2 countries. There was then alternately time
for working on the MOOC’s content and research of information in the same countries, followed by mobility classes during which
they experienced the reception of their work and its adaptation to an audience of other students. The final objective was the
creation of a MOOC.
• The result of this MOOC was the creation of an innovative and intercultural course, created by secondary school students for
other students. It developed key skills that were necessary for post-compulsory education.
The expected impact on students was greater motivation for developing their knowledge, a more open attitude towards others,
the ability to work with others and to create together a better adaptability and desire to engage in innovative training. The
expected impact for teachers was to improve their pedagogical skills in addition to their cultural and linguistic skills.
The expected impact for teams was the development of team work, cultural openness and a desire to do other projects.
The expected impact on parents was the development of an openness to other cultures through the contributions of their children
and receiving European school students, a knowledge of EU programs and their different procedures for their children and new
modes of access to knowledge, and taking this into account for the future of their children.
• The expected long-term benefit is an easier entry of students into new ways of working throughout the course of their future
studies, better adaptability to working in multicultural teams (which is called for today by Europe for tomorrow’s workers) and also
perhaps an increase of teaching vocations, where in today’s society it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit.
