Project Summary
The project “Creating a European Hip-Hop Dancer Training” really aims to fill an obvious void by offering full training to Hip-Hop practitioners (dancers or trainers) from all three countries.
To offer quality learning, the idea is to create the conditions for a European partnership consisting of artistic companies and dances, cultural centers, committed communities, professional companies and National Choreographic Center in the field of practice Hip Hop.
The interest of this training is not only to work purely technical dance workshops. It is a question of opening up to the integral process of creation which passes from dance to all the sides that it is equally fundamental to master to make evolve its practice.
Also, in addition to training, workshops and master-classes provided by recognized professionals, special attention has also been given to peer learning in order to promote the exchange of experiences between the different trainees.
Three trainees per country, 12 participants in two training sessions supervised by professionals, took place during this year. The first session allowed to approach the phases of a creation like the writing, the scenography, the musical creation, the lighting and in space, the creation of costumes as well as the technical approach of the sound and the light.
Three transnational meetings were held, one at the beginning of the project, one mid-term and one during the last training session.
This same last session took place in Niort, as part of a Hip Hop festival organized annually by the project leader. The trainees thus proposed a restitution on the stage of the Moulin du Roc National theater of Niort, in front of an audience of approximately 300 people.
Three transnational meetings were held, the first in Niort at the beginning of the project, at the beginning of October 2017 to present and exchange concretely about the project and to engage the responsibilities of each one.
The second meeting was held mid-term in Poland, in the premises of the cultural center of Biala Podlaska, Polish partner was the opportunity to continue the exchanges and strengthen the partnership.
The third meeting ended the first year of the overall project with a consolidation of the second training session and the partners’ meeting.
The trainees from the partner structures, at the end of this training, will have seen their skills develop as dancers / Hip Hop trainers.
In the medium term also, an expected result is to allow these partners, already engaged in the dissemination of Hip Hop in their daily activities (workshop, course, programming, creation) to develop qualitatively and quantitatively their proposals around the Hip Hop via the contribution of trained trainees who will be able to localize know-how and be acquired during this project year.
Finally, in the long term, the creation / sustainability of a “mobile and itinerant” training center for Hip Hop dancers at European and global level is envisaged.
