Project Summary

Week project focuses on improving the four language skills of students and increasing the success and awareness of the students in English language learning classes. The project includes planned activities to supply opportunities for the students to reach these targets. The targets are similar to 2020 Educational targets of European Reference Framework. The 2018 Council Recommendation on a comprehensive approach to the teaching and learning of languages outlines the current challenges and proposes an action plan aimed at:
•Boosting language learning by focusing on reaching specific competence levels,
•Introducing the concept of language awareness in education and training,
•Ensuring that more language teachers benefit from opportunities to learn and study abroad; •Identifying and promoting innovative, inclusive and multilingual pedagogic, using European tools and platforms such as the School Education Gateway and e-twinning.
Inspired by these aims, we have built our Project goals as follows:
* To create a A1-A2 level English lesson timetable including 2 different activities each month which can be used in all European countries;
* To prepare ready and experienced English lesson materials and activities for English teachers;
* To increase the level of the students from A1 to A2 with the materials and activities they produce while creating materials for other teachers;
* To make English lesson enjoyable for their own students and for other students who use these materials and activities during the lessons;
*To produce an e-book (and a printed version) including all English lessons materials and games;
*To produce card games and board games related to English lessons and hold a performance in English based on a script written by the students;
*To compare and contrast all 5 countries curriculum and their English teaching styles and create a report about them;
*To show English teachers that every place can be converted into a suitable environment for students to learn English.

The project will last 24 months. Partners are 5 countries – Poland, Greece, Turkey, Italy, and Bulgaria.
Each month the countries will produce English lesson materials and activities. Before the first meeting, all schools will do some preparations. First, they will make a brainstorming about the time table of the project. Time table is the skeleton of the project so it has to be perfect. Each school is in charge for founding and carrying out different social media accounts. In the second month, all countries will prepare posters and logos. In the third month, schools will start creating activities. During the new year, all students will send happy New Year cards each other. Transnational meetings are planned each 4 months. The first meeting will include brainstorming of all partners about the activity table. The teachers will bring their curriculum and compare and contrast them. They will create reports about them. Meetings will include observing lessons, presenting the activities and a variety of workshops and different games. All activities will be observed and evaluated. The activities can be accepted, rejected or modified as they have to be suitable for all European countries. During students’ meetings, host countries will organise a game based on English lesson in a historical place or museum to show that every place can be a suitable environment to teach English with joy and enthusiasm. Kastamonu Science and Art centre will prepare robotic coding with English workshops for teachers and students and Poland will organise Outdoor lessons for all students. In Greece, the meeting will be based on midterm evaluation. All countries will evaluate the project. Drama in ESL lessons activities will be organised. In Turkey, the last meeting will be held and an e-book will be created. All teachers will organise different workshops for local teachers and introducing the e-book. The project will produce 2 newspapers including songs, poems, photos and enjoyable activities. During the mobilities students will be accommodated in host families with children from our partners’ schools so they will be able to practise English in real situation and learn more about different cultures.. One shared theatre will be presented. To disseminate the project results, social media will be actively used before, during and after the project. All schools will work with local media. A website will be opened for supplying materials for English teachers. All schools will prepare the news on their school websites. The project E-book will be distributed through the internet. During the project, all schools will organise at least 4 seminars to English teachers, students and families. In this way, we are planning to create awareness in international, national and local levels.
