Project Summary

In our two schools, some of the pupils come from economically disadvantaged families who rarely had the opportunity to travel and it has become clear to us that it is more and more difficult to arouse interest, engagement and work. This is the reason why our two schools show the same will to :
1 – reduce social and cultural inequalities,
2- increase awareness of our young pupils to European citizenship by developing their language practice by enabling them to discover new ways of life (during school trips abroad) and to acquire an European culture,
3- offer study pathways which take into account the differences and offer educational differentiated methods according to the needs of all.

We are facing pupils who have increasingly educational difficulties, or even school failures. In front of this reality, games can be a tool to motivate them, to help them acquiring new notions but also to enable them to develop a social dimension in favour of sharing and being in contact with other people. Indeed, they are going to interact with each other which can be a factor of social inclusion. Thanks to gamification, we hope that pupils will be more motivated and engaged in the learning process. This is a unique opportunity for us to arouse their motivation through a project in which they will be actors with the realisation of a concrete product.

We would like to give 10 French pupils and 10 Spanish pupils to work together in Franco-Spanish teams to make games to help them learn in class but also games on awareness and prevention (environment, harassment, dangers on the internet …).
The produced games will be edited in different copies for each school so that all pupils can play with them. These games could be tools :
– useful in class to motivate them and to help them memorise new notions
– during activities offered to primary school children for transition days
– during board games lunchtime workshops on Tuesdays
– during the European week
– offered to the residents from the retirement home of the Hospital in La Guerche with which we have close ties and the Apadis association which promotes inclusion intellectually impaired people in Villena.

At the end of this project, a contest between all these games will be done. The winner could be offered locally in the experimentation shop of the Lycée St Exupéry. We would also like to work in collaboration with the association ‘L’Outil en main” to produce (probably) eco-responsible packaging with them (for example sachets with pieces of fabric or by recycling paper or cardboard or pieces of wood.)
The aims of this project are:
– To motivate and to stimulate these pupils who do not always find motivation in the school system.
– To develop their creativity
– To encourage respect and tolerance towards other European cultures
– To discover the aspects of the culture and the heritage of each country through games
– To reinforce European identity through education and culture
– To upgrade teaching and learning methods to motivate pupils (real mobility so that pupils can be in contact with native speakers).

First of all, to help Franco-Spanish partners, we are going to ask them to embrace challenges to get to know each other, know each other’s country, and know more about Europe.

For the implementation of this project: from September to February, they ought to create games linked to courses.

1st mobility: Presentation of French Games in a Spanish primary school, to present games to other groups, to produce together (French and Spanish) awareness games.

2nd mobility: Workshop from ‘La Maison de l’Europe’. Presentation of Spanish games in a French primary school. Game night with families. Production of other awareness games.

The result of this project will be the completed games which could be used within schools at any time by teachers and pupils. We hope we will arouse motivation in pupils and creativity thanks to this project being actors and also to enable them to stay in their penfriend’s family so that they become aware of the importance of mastering different languages. The participation in this concrete project will allow our two schools to reinforce their links with primary schools and local partners.
