Project Summary

FUNTASTIC: motivation starts here, is a project of 5 European schools of which: all of them are linked with primary and secondary education, Colegio Santísima Trinidad (Spain), Holla 10-årige skole Ulefoss (Norway), 201st Primary School St St Kiril and Metodiy (Bulgaria), TÖÖLÖN ALA-ASTEEN KOULU (Finland), IMS PRIVATE SCHOOL (Cyprus).

These five instittutions clicked instantly when they realized they are all currently engaged with delivering lessons in a creative and experiential way employing, for example, both traditional toys or modern devices such as the iPad. Consequently this common feature led them to embark together on this project about cooperation and innovation for good practices.

The main aim of the project sharing, testing and compiling cross-curricular good practices both during transnational project meetings and online. The resultant compilation will turn into THE EUROPEAN TEACHER’S TOOLKIT, a Blog/website packed with didactic resources and practical classroom strategies that will enable teachers to meet the needs of different learning styles, stimulate their own creativity, add a spice to their teaching and challenge the gifted and the disruptive students.

The project also includes the creation of a GAME LEARNING AREA at each participant school. This is a classroom furnished with GAMES based on robotics material and toys carefully selected for their significance as a tool to support the acquisition of curriculum contents.
The icing on the cake is a Science Fair and a Children’s Literature Fair, which will be held every school year to promote inquiry-based learning and the use of authentic materials among teachers and students.

We are truly committed to one objective: make education funnier and easier. For that reason we believe that we can combine new methods of teaching base on students needs, to face the lack of motivation and early leaving school. Also, we think education deserve to be universal and all children deserve to learn in a componential way. For that reason, our blog is open to all of them would like to have a look at it. Additionally, we believe in an educational inclusive way of teaching where every pupil have to learn by having fun in the classroom. In short, the motivation of the project is that we teachers should be as concerned with HOW we teach as we traditionally have been concerned with WHAT we teach.
