Project Summary
It has been observed that this pollution originates from the Danube River by 30% through various activities and literature surveys conducted during our projects that address the pollution problem in the Black Sea in the eTwinning portal .One of the biggest problems of today’s youth is that they are not sensitive enough to the environment and they have technology addiction. With the help of the activities we have done in our eTwinning projects we have observed the environmental awareness that raised in our students , and also staying away from technology during spending their time in nature motivated us to write this project. Our aim is to contribute to the environment we live in and to leave a more livable world for future generations by studying the solutions of the participating countries on this issue by working against the pollution that the Danube River and the Black Sea is exposed to. We aim for our students to learn and disseminate the best practices in this regard, the reasons that create water pollution in the river and the sea, which is one of the priorities of our project, and in this way, improve their environmental awareness. In addition, all participants fulfilling their duty on the environment and protecting their natural heritage are among the goals desired throughout the project. Raising awareness of the public against the pollution in the Black Sea and the Danube River is also an important factor for us. We have partners from five different European countries in our project. These countries are Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Austria and Turkey. There are two schools of Turkey. During our project, which we aim to last 24 months, 6 Learning-Teaching-Training activities will be organized. Each school will participate in these activities as 2 teachers and 5 students. Our student age range is 14-19. We have economical, social, cultural and educational disadvantaged students in our project.Based on the words of the great leader Ataturk “Great works, important breakthroughs; it is only achieved by working together.” we believe that all the local and Learning-Teaching-Training activities we will do throughout our project will make a significant contribution to our goals. In this context, the countries stated will be responsible for carrying-out the following activities; Hungary in the improvement and remediation of the water quality of the Danube river (C1), Turkey-Düzce in decontamination and recycling of polluted water at its sources (C2) , Austria in the protection of the Danube river from pollution (C3), Romania in taking precautions against pollution effecting the aquatic organisms (C4), Serbia in the improvement of infrastructure and waste management (C5) and Turkey-Rize in the prevention of sea pollution (C6).With this project, students will contribute to the ecosystem by living, practising and observing, understanding the relationships and interactions between the elements that make up the environment, increasing their desire to learn and problem solving, developing research, literature scanning and data tracking skills, developing group awareness, language skills and self-confidence ,creative thinking skills will increase, they will be appreciated by their parents and teachers, and those who are disadvantaged will achieve equal opportunities. In addition, all participants will gain European awareness, learn to respect by recognizing different cultures, and will be responsible and sensitive to the environment. With this project we will carry out, “Clean Danube Clean Black Sea” manifesto will be prepared and turned into a brochure and distributed to public institutions such as schools, universities and municipalities. Web page and blog will be created, public spot video covering all events will be prepared, project social networking site will be created, banners, posters, logos and bookmarks will be designed, seminars and exhibitions will be organized, e-books will be created, short films and presentations will be made, events will be created in the e-Twinning portal and activities will be carried out simultaneously, each school will prepare an Erasmus project board, a table will be created by making water analysis with test kits, waste water treatment system will be designed, a bag painting event will be held, table and wall calendars will be created for each year and distributed to official institutions, project news will be created in local newspapers and media , the Black Sea and Danube days will be celebrated and mentoring will be done to other schools on clean environment. Our cooperation with local administrations, associations and non-governmental organizations throughout the project gives us hope for the future of our environment as well as the sustainability of our project in the long term.
