Project Summary
In this project will be involved schools from 4 countries: Romania as the Coordinator and Greece, Poland and Turkey as Partners.
The partnership project we intend to launch comes to the assistance of worrying issues of today’s society, and we highlight here the international concerns about violence in society and especially the issue of violence in the school environment, taking into account that school is an integral part of the community.
In order to address the needs identified in each partner school, it is hoped that the implementation of this project will reduce the incidence of acts of violence and increase safety and security in schools. We want secure and attractive schools where students, regardless of their age, ethnic or religious affiliation, empathize, collaborate and develop harmoniously.
The specific objectives we propose in this project are:
O1 – involving a total of 80 pupils and 10 teachers from Romania, 160 students and 13 teachers from Turkey, a number of 180 students and 15 teacher from Greece and a number of 60 students and 5 teachers from Poland in the project’s specific 11 school activities in order to increase safety in schools;
O2 – involving a total of 16 pupils and 8 teachers from each partner country in the projects’s 4 mobilities in order to participate at LTT activities and to reduce the rate of school violence and early school leaving
O3 – reducing the rate of school violence in all partner institutions with 10%, by involving the pupils and the teachers in cultural, sport and artistic activities;
O4 – reducing the rate of early school leaving in all partner institutions with 5%, by involving the pupils and the teachers in cultural, sport and artistic activities
The activities we have set in the project aim at achieving the above-mentioned objectives as they were designed in accordance with the needs of the target groups of both the students and the participating teachers. Concerning the first two objectives, we can say that all the proposed activities are characteristic, because ultimately they all aim at diminishing the bullying phenomenon, of course targeting the involvement and collaboration of teachers with pupils. Sports activities aim at developing fair play and team spirit as well as enhancing tolerance and empathy abilities. The frequent meetings with the psychologist and police representatives aim at increasing the awareness of the negative effects of school violence among students. At the same time, through these informative activities, we aim to attract more parents to school and involve them in the activities of their children, precisely to develop the spirit of collaboration and raise the awareness towards the dangers the students are being exposed to through their violent behaviors.
Four Short-term exchanges of groups of pupils (in Poland, Greece, Turkey and Romania), during which about 64 students will participate at different kind of activities (learning games, workshops, meetings, etc.) and will learn to collaborate, to understand each other and to help peers.
During the project meeting in Romania, the team project`s members from all partner school will evaluate the activities, the final products, the project as a whole.
The outputs of the project will be: a brochure about violence, an e-Book of the project, a book about methods and strategies to reduce violence. All the products made during the project development will be uploaded on the web page of the project, on The Facebook page of the project and on the eTwinning space.
By participating in the project’s activities, students will develop their communication, IT and language skills, their artistic sense and love of beauty, their team spirit and fair-play. By developing these skills, pupils’ attitudes will change in a positive way because they will be more aware of the effects that school violence can have, understand that responsibility is a personal decision and find alternative ways to channel their energy and stand out.
By increasing the safety of students in schools, the institutions involved in the project will be considered as “friendly schools”. The long-term benefits will be substantial because, by increasing safety, the attractiveness of schools among pupils will increase, so the dropout rate will decrease.
