Project Summary

Our project Open your Mind to new Technologies deals with the subjects which all partner schools perceive as important and necessary to improve on the basic of the external exam results from September 2019. Our partnership consists of 6 countries: Poland, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece, Italy and Romania. The exam results made us aware that we need to improve our students skills in Maths ( Poland, Italy and Greece) and North Macedonia has successes in Maths however has problems with exam results of their students at Physics and Chemistry. The schools from Bulgaria and Romania are the leaders in their countries as far as the results of maths (they win international competitions), however, they feel that their students should improve their English and other foreign language skills. On the other hand, schools from Poland, Greece, Italy and North Macedonia success in teaching foreign languages. Thus we decided that we can share and exchange our knowledge in the partnership. All school have the students at similar age ( from 6 to 16). We all belong to the group of primary level schools. We have divided the project into small topics which put in order the skills and knowledge we want our students to gain during the project life cycle. The topics are as follows: “The world around us” at first L/T/T activities in Poland ( coordinating country) when we get to know each other, decide how to deal with the activities and divide the tasks. We show how we teach foreign languages in the laboratory and it can be broadcasted via videoconference. We present our lessons of Maths and Science to discuss and exchange the practice. The students design the logo of the project and play Kahoot games about host town at ICT. We visit the factory with students to show them that the company can be based on the new technologies used in practice. Students tell us their ideas how they want to be taught Science and Maths. They prepare the glossary to be used at all L/T/T activities; Next topic is “Physics around us” discussed at L/T/T activities in Romania when we deal with physics in everyday life, its usefulness and we talk about new technologies at the robotics and ICT lessons, we plan the visit to the company which use new technologies and discussion on European Labour Market and jobs for the future; The L/T/T activities “Building the future” is in Macedonia about Maths when we show the students how important is this subject in many parts of our lives, among others in architecture. The students learn Maths constructing the building out of paper geometric figures and do 3D puzzles. The host school shows us how to teach Maths and ICT in effective way. The next topic which is “Chemistry can be funny” starts with students work when they find out the ingredients of the food they eat and then at the L/T/T activities in Italy we deal with the topic of chemistry which can be found in food and many other products of everyday life. Students have lessons of chemistry with modern methods and visit the company which uses new technologies and chemisty in its process of production. The topic about “Ecology in my country” starts with the students` slideshows of the same title and is developed at L/T/T activities in Bulgaria when we also consider recycling methods of each partner country and discuss the renewable resources of energy. We play Kahoot about this topic to get to know more and visit the ecological greenhouse and power plant which uses the natural resources of energy. The students have ICT lessons when they learn how to use QR code. Then we plan to prepare with students and teachers at each partner school region an educational path which will be coded with QR codes. This path is assigned and prepared by students and teachers of the partner school and deals with animals and plants which appear on it. The signs at the path will have the QR codes to show what animals and plants live there. The effects of the work are discussed at the last L/T/T activities entitled: “Respect the world around you with new technologies”. We learn about fauna and flora of partner school regions and discuss the problems we can have to prepare the educational path. We sum up our work and make the common album about new technologies in our life based on our two-year work. We plan two videoconferences for teachers only when they have workshops on teaching with modern methods like STEAM.There will be many vidoeconferences for students to communicate and help teachers to evaluate the project`s results. We will work with Kahoot games, Quizlet and e-Twinning platforms, QR codes, STEAM programmes, Webquest 3D printers and robotics as the methods of teaching and learning. The main motivation for us is to help our students to improve ther skills in Maths, Scientific subjects and foreign languages like English and to open their minds to new technologies which are part of our life and the ability to use them is crucial nowadays to get to European Labour Market with success
