Project Summary
WorldSkills is a movement that changes the lives of young people through skills. Strong of 84 Member organizations, it reaches two-thirds of the world’s population and creates measurable impact at every level building the confidence of millions of young people, empowering communities and fueling economies. Skills create opportunities and connect societies. They are the foundation of economic progress. Skills competitions measure excellence, celebrate “Skills Champions”, and encourage hundreds of thousands of young people to turn their passions into a profession and to promote skills.
WorldSkills Member organizations assist young people to access training and find new jobs, via the WorldSkills Standards Specifications that are just one of the first-rate tools provided to help develop training systems.
As the global hub of skills, the WorldSkills movement brings together and influences educators, industries, national governments, and international organizations, also facilitating salient research and providing the best global benchmark for vocational systems. The partner organizations are all part of the WorldSkills movement in their country, at European and International level, having key roles in supporting VET system development, organizing skills competitions and preparing students and even teachers for Skills competitions.
Our consortium, made of 3 WorldSkills partners from France, Romania, and Belgium is willing to create a strong exchange of best practices in the framework of Skills competitions and including 7 specific skills: bakery, pastry & confectionery, cooking, restaurant service, hairdressing, beauty therapy and automobile technology.
In the context of severe labor deficit at EU level and especially in Romania, one of the most sustainable solutions is making the VET system more attractive for young people and for potential partner companies.
The aim of the EgpiVET project is to build up the capacity of VET institutions (training centers, schools, high schools, associations) to further and better develop transnational, national, regional and sectoral skills competitions.
By providing VET educators and VETexecutives with lifelong learning opportunities in the field of skills competitions, we aim on the long term:
– to start organizing skills competitions in Romania, following European and international standards
– to increase the quality and the participation rate in skills competitions in France and Belgium.
Our project aims to improve the quality, efficiency and excellence of education and training through skills competitions– all citizens need to be able to acquire key competencies.
With the know-how, the abilities and the motivation to organize and to participate in skills competitions, Romanian VET educators and executives will make the VET institutions part of the European and international skills movement and therefore make their institutions more attractive for both
young people and potential partner companies.
At least 200 VET institutions will be reached out in the awareness campaign and 48 VET educators and VET executives from 7 qualifications will participate in learning activities, exchanging good practices on the topics of VET successful partnerships with companies. The main objectives will be to learn how to organize and manage skills competitions and how to prepare the students for Skills competitions.
For each of the 7 skills covered in the project, each national team of educators and executives will make a report that consolidate the learning outcomes, make the know-how easily transferable and increase the motivation of the participants.
This reports will be used by each project partner in the dissemination process and will be uploaded on Erasmus Plus Project Results Platform and on the project webpage.
As it is the first project of this sort in the WorldSkills network, aiming to strengthen the capacity of VET institutions to be active in the skills movement, by organizing and participating in skills competitions, it will be considered as a pilot project. Further similar projects will gather more countries, WorldSkills organizations, other stakeholders of skills competitions and more skills/trades will be covered. Also, further similar strategic partnerships will be focused on innovation, bringing even more know-how and impact in each of the participating countries.
