Project Summary
In order to implement integrated STEAM model the project partners develop the students‘ skills for future life. As a main tool circular economy will be chosen.
Since there are very few STEAM schools in Lithuania and the experience in this area is rather limited, we believe to become the starters after implementing this project.
The main GOAL of the project is in collaboration with the partner countries to create the multifaceted model of STEAM integration based on circular economy which would ensure effectiveness of the integrated education. The goal includes such aspects as intensive interdisciplinary integration; the main attention to the circular economy and zero waste society. The OBJECTIVES of the project are: to increase students’ interest in STEAM studies and to improve their achievements in this field; to encourage the implement by grounding activities in research, solving the problem and connection reason and consequence; to learn foreign languages and for the development of linguistic communication; to improve the partnership between the schools’ communities in the EU; to make the conditions not only for the students but for the teachers as well to improve academic skills during the project.
While implementing the project, three TARGET GROUPS will be involved into the activities and dissemination of the project: 1) Students aged 11-18 (basic and secondary education) will implement the project and learn to work together, explore, experiment, create; 2) Teachers and school staff (of foreign languages, sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, ICT, technology teachers, administrators) will ensure smooth implementation of the project activities, share experiences; 3) The school and the local community members will use the project results, increase interest in STEAM.
72 participants will go to the learning visits and 9 participants will attend joint-staff training visit in Lithuania. All participants will complete specific assignments planned in the project. In institutions there will be formed several target WORKING GROUPS for the smooth organization of the activities, which will include teachers and students.
ACTIVITIES will be carried on: gathering information on the circular economy, TED type conference will be held, environment and climate change issues will be deeply analysed and discussed searching the documents, discussing in a round table discussions, presenting and sharing information among partner countries. Students will create posters, photos, infographics, stickers-reminders, the model of ecosystem, maps of polluted areas, video games using the program of Codes and also crosswords using Edpuzzle, Eclipse, Crossword and some other programs. Educational lessons and excursions out of the classroom will be organized for all participants. Students will also accomplish biological, chemical and physical experiments. Students supervised by technologies, engineering, ICT and Science teachers will be involved in the project “Ecosystem Model”.
METHODOLOGY. Project activities will be implemented with the help of methods and techniques which are consistent with the target age group of students, their needs, skills and abilities. Most of the activities will be organized by WORKING IN GROUPS. Lots of presentations will be made. Students and teachers will reflect their activities, make self-assessments. During WORKSHOPS, ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS dissemination will be made. Implementation of the project will leverage the development of new positive approach to the educational process popularization STEAM subjects and their integration in general education. Impact for STUDENTS: Motivate and encourage further action at the international level, improve language skills, raise motivation, deepen their knowledge and skills, improve self-esteem, increase the desire to go deeper into STEAM subjects.
TEACHERS: the leadership and personal development progress of each teacher’s cooperation and communication, openness.Teachers will develop new methodology for dealing with STEAM integration for improving the quality of education and strategic goals. Project partners will gain an important experience in realizing international projects, will benefit the developed products.
Cooperation between the schools implementing interdisciplinary STEAM will expand. Other European countries will be able to access and customize STEAM subjects integration in their education process. It will be possible to learn how to introduce science subjects creatively and attractively to students from the project partners. Collected information will be used in lessons and carrying out other projects. The created e-products as well as STEAM integration ideas will be presented in various conferences, shared in local and/or regional press. After completing the project in each organization the group of project coordinators will continue working and promoting the outcome of the project.
