Project Summary
Spaces /Li(EU)x : Responsible mobility incubator is an Erasmus +2019-2022 school exchange partnership involving schools from six European countries : Germany, Spain, France, Greece, Italy and Portugal.
The project was born so as to answer the following statement: the new generation is far more mobile than the previous ones but is it really prepared ?
Its aim is to sensitize 12- 19 year old youngsters to the issues of the mobility question in the 21st century either it is a virtual or a real one. The project also aims at sharpening their critical skills so as they become responsible European citizens.
In that prospect, the project offers common pedagogical activities based on the discovery of the various kinds of mobility, their advantages, but also the problems or dangers they might trigger off.
Those activities revolve around four areas of work:
– ecological mobility
– reduced mobility
– digital mobility
– cultural mobility
They lead to the production of pedagogical material elaborated by the pupils themselves.
Spaces / Li(EU)x also favours the development of a common set of basic and transversal skills such as the practise of French (language used in the project) and of the other languages of the partnership. The focus is also put on group work, autonomy and initiative (project-orienting teaching, responsible involvement of the pupils in various tasks/activities) along with mastering common information and communication technologies (Multimedia productions, virtual classrooms.)
Eight transnational meetings gathering the six delegations have been planned so as to implement learning activities centred around the specificities of the hosting school and country. The pupils will also be given the opportunity to experience a cultural immersion with a host family. Finally, the aim is also to ensure the collaborative management of the project by the steering teams.
Two pupils will experience a long mobility by integrating a foreign high school: a French pupil will discover Munich and will have to report on the city’s urban development progress as far as green transportation is concerned.
Likewise, a German pupil will have to explain to the French youngsters what ecological initiatives, in the field of transportation, are being carried out in Munich. The German kid will then follow an observation course within the Michelin firm.
Moreover, Li(EU)x is also a source of innovative practices for teachers through the setting up of a working group reflecting on the experimentation of new pedagogical methods centred around the concept of mobile classes and learning labs.
So as to ensure its implementation and its promotion on a large scale, the partnership uses tools that have been made available by Europe such as the e-Twinning platform or the Europass certificate. In addition, its mission is also to expand its network by relying on the expertise of local players and relevant stakeholders to address the problem.
In the respect of a quality approach, a regular assessment measures the impact of the project on the target audience such as becoming aware of the ecological, relational, professional issues but also security linked to mobility, the teacher’s and pupils’ motivation for the project, the improvement of the knowledge of European cultures, the strengthening of the partnerships.
The final production consists in the conception of a vade-mecum about the good practices in term of mobility: four chapters which resume the four themes of the project : ecological, cultural, digital, reduced . All the produced results will be published on the project’s web site.
