Project Summary

The project “the place to be….. to live in Harmony ” will include children from kindergarden, preprimary school. Using folktales from different countries from Europe focuse on early cultural awakening and will offer good opportunities to enhance and widen their knowledge about the world they live in.
We are 6 partners, France, Latvia, Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania with or without European project experiences.
The children, through the project, will develop their understanding of world easier. Tales are very important features of many cultures, explaining how the world is and humankind assumed their present form. They are real sources to learn about friendship, helping each other, getting in touch and working together, moral values, respect for the person and for nature. They are used to convey from values to cultural life of people, to establish behavioural models and to teach. Folk tales, traditional stories are part of our cultural heritage in all countries. The tales depict characters struggling with difficulties in which the child recognizes those he or she experiences particularly in the family. The young reader identifies with the hero who overcomes all the trials he encounters. Thus the tale helps him to analyze the situations in which he is involved and brings him hope, courage and comfort.
The children will see that the best way to live is to live together without social distinction, disability, … Through this project they will study new cultures and traditions and present their own. Each institution will select a typical folk tale from their community and send it to the other partners
A character in the form of a doll, will be the conducting wire to arrive at the final book.
It will travel to and visit the children in the partner countries. They will be the thread of the quest for the ideal village / city throughout the project.
Texts of folk tales will be translated in English, sent or bring to the project partners, and each institution will translate the folk tale into its native language.
During their current work, teachers will share experience on the methods they use at work with folklore tales. This experience will serve to provide a variety of methodology for working with a folklore story.
Children will learn to know and to research about their own cultural heritage (cultural artefacts, house models, tolerance figures, music, dance…), work on cultural elements of partner countries, reflecting and being in direct contact with other cultures.
Introduction and comparison of lifestyle in the community, traditions,…, visits to excavation areas/local museums reflecting on the history of their culture.
Main objectives :
* learn about culture of partner countries (through the tale, music, dance, recipe, )
* to allow all the children whatever their social level, handicap …. to acquire a european literary culture
* Raise interest about cultural heritages in EU and develop directed inquiry and researches
* Develop open/tolerant attitudes towards others in EU
* Realize a digital book to make a common tale where’s mascots and cultural heritage appear through a quest (tradional houses, find a city name, …)
* Grow herbs at the school garden and share them with the partners to be used for the cooking of partner’s typical dishes and realize an Ebook recipes
* Participate in a cooperative activity, the theatricalization of the tale
* Cards game (action verb, characters, places, …) to create as many stories as you want, work on language skills.
A two-year planning was carried out.

Some of our results will be tangible such as :
* the Web site : project website will be recording all project materials and activities, so the visual and content quality check, number of website visitors from each partner country will be used as evaluative tools.
* Regular questionnaires (checking inclusion, integration, comments) and evaluation form
* After meeting report will give an indication of progress and/or difficulties
* Puppet mascot with photo album in each mobility ( to carry out different cultures to our pupils)
* We will promote our results by reports in local and regional media.
And some results are intangibles, such as the evolution of the cultural knowledge of each child and each adult.
Feedbacks gathered from parents and wider community via open days, exhibitions and other project displays will be other resources for evaluation.
Once the project finished , the tale cards game can be used in any school in any country because it will be adaptable with the images you want, and so children will be able to create their own story.
