Project Summary
1. project: background and aims
An important aim of our project was to create a guide for integrative teaching that can give main information about integrative teaching and integration at school. It can be used by pupils, teachers, parents and other interested people and it can be adjusted and supplemented in the future. The main objective of the project was to create an access to efficient education to all the pupils. The approach to reach that goal was to outline the status quo at our schools (the schools, which participated in our project) and to prove new teaching methods for integrative teaching.
We focused on the proving of methods for integrative teaching like cooperative learning, the formation of heterogeneous learning groups and differentiated subjects. Alternative learning methods, which showed the pupils how to learn and how to solve problems by themselves were also tested.
Reasons for dealing with the topic “integration” arose in the different problems all schools must deal with, which try to implement the principle of integrative education. We think, that we can contribute with the results of our project.
Another key aspect of the project was the analysis of the training opportunities of our pupils, especially of the pupils with learning disorders who are educated with integrative methods. Demands on apprenticeships and jobs were researched together. A major approach has been the focus on practical trainings with national and international partners and enterprises. The participating pupils should also gain practical experience by creating application papers and by working with regional companies to experience an analyze potential strengths and weaknesses. Reason therefore is that most pupils don’t have a clear vision of what will happen after school and which profession to aim for. A practical vocational preparation during the schooldays is an important help for the pupils.
Pupils at the age of 12 until 15 years participated in our project. Further participants: teachers, economic representatives, representatives of the municipal community and school responsible and supporters.
