Project Summary
In 2016, the lycée François Rabelais located in IFS in Normandy met its Macedonian counterpart in Debar during a visit organised for the decentralised cooperation between the two towns. On this occasion, the teachers and headmasters exchanged on their will to work together, to open their Catering and Hotel education sectors to an international environment and to share their commun educational objectives for the development of Cooperative Learning and Solving professionnal situations techniques. They agreed on these bases and decided to build the Erasmus + project PAIRE together.
The teachers of the Catering and Hotel education sector of the schools will work together either with digital tools or during mobilities to create innovating Cooperative Learning situations in which students will use the scientifical and technological knowledge of the curriculum and develop professionnal and social skills. The Rabelais School teachers will also share their proven professionnal experience with their colleagues who will just be starting their teaching experience in the Catering and Hotel education sector.
30 students in their final year will be involved in the project every year in each school ; they will study technology subjects of the curriculum with their felow students either using digital tools or group work when they will meet.
The planned mobilities for students and teachers will enable everyone to experience a true Cooperative Learning situation. The meeting of the students is considered as a strong intercultural opportunity and a window on the world for students with less opportunities. The teachers mobilities will enable them to discover a different organisation of the Catering and Hotel education sector and other teaching methods, to discuss with their colleagues about pedagogical issues and to create innovating learning sessions and different tools to evaluate the students skills.
The project aims at :
– creating a lasting pedagogical partnership between the 2 schools which will go on with a second Eramus + project for exchanges of good practices and involving new European partners.
– contributing to increase the international opening of the 2 schools whose students have very few opportunities and consequently need to be offered the possibility to live a strong and educative experience by going abroad.
– giving teachers the opportunity to discover a different education system, improve and innovate in their teaching methods thanks to the exchanges of pratices . The French teachers will also develop their skills as teacher educators for their Macedonian colleagues who will just begin in the Catering and Hotel education sector by sharing with them their expertise.
– making students from very different cultures work together on common subjects of the curriculum, using Cooperative Learning both while echanging with digital Tools and during the mobilities.
The expected results are :
– an official partnership established between the 2 schools that will enable the schools to create new and various projects together and make their policy on international opening more visible.
– a new Erasmus + project opened to other European partners for 2021 -2023 in order to get more teachers involved into the internationalisation of the schools.
– teachers who will be able to valid an English certification to teach in English in their classes and thus give an added value to their education sector.
– a pool of expertise constituted by the teachers involved in the project and able to help and advice colleagues on the creation and organisation of a Catering and Hotel education sector in schools abroad.
– students with strong professionnal and social skills developed thanks to international cooperative work and valorised by an Europass CV.
– students with a strong sense of European citizenship built during the intercultural situations they experienced abroad and when they welcomed their fellow students.
The long term impacts and benefits will concern :
– the influence of Rabelais School in its local environment and abroad thanks to the international partnerships built.
– the quality approach Debar School will develop in its new education sector to make it a route to excellence for the students .
– a change in the way students and parents consider mobility. Students and parents will understand better how important an international experience is for a future job because they will have experienced a mobility as students or have been associated to the project as parents.
– the forging of European Identity and an active citizenship for the students that will be encouraged to get involve into other projects linked to the partnerships between Ifs and Debar.
