Project Summary
The aim of the project is the mobility of 12-13-year-old pupils on a work about eco-citizenship with the purpose of developing in future European citizens a sense of belonging to the European Community as well as of encouraging an ethical and responsible behaviour.
This project was created within the frame of an educational agreement signed by the Académie of Amiens in France and the Province of Asti in Italy and thanks to the cooperation intent of Jacques Prèvert School in Chambly and O. e L. Jona Secondary School from Istituto Comprensivo 1 in Asti.
The individuals involved in the project are 50 pupils from the 2nd year of Secondary School in France and in Italy (from September 2019). The use of the foreign language studied (French for the Italians and Italian for the French pupils) will be the constant link between the two groups which will be encouraged to carry out researches and exchange educational material to enable in-depth study during the meetings and the common trips. The project implies a cross-curricular work which involves numerous competences in various subjects, such as Geography, Science and Foreign languages. The use of ICT (Information and Communications Technology ) as a means of communication and as a tool for the students’ production will also enhance their technological skills.
Accommodation in the peers’ homes will ensure a full immersion in the partner country’s culture, improve linguistic competences and will certainly create lasting links between our two nations.
Our cooperation provides for 3 trips during which the pupils will be called on to work on game activities led by their teachers or professional guides. During the meetings the participants will be involved into real actions of awareness and environment protection in the two countries, at a local, regional and national level.
Actually, on their trips and through engaging activities (treasure hunt, snorkelling, trekking) they will be led to reflect on the environmental impact of humans and the idea of sustainable development. These concrete actions of involvement and environment conservation aim at raising critical thinking in our pupils so they can develop an awareness of the environmental issues of the future. Furthermore group work among pupils of different nationality and mixed abilities will raise their awareness as European citizens, promoting cooperation, initiative and an inclusive attitude.
All of the educational material issued during the two years (in paper or electronic form, photographs or videos) will be presented to the public at the end of the project. A presentation event will be organised in both schools in order to ensure visibility to the project before the pupils’ families, the other students and the staff. The event will also have media coverage by the local press in order to give value to the achievement of our cooperation. We intend an even larger dissemination through the Internet by publishing our material on eTwinning and a dedicated website.
Finally a joint evaluation of the outcomes through a careful examination of positive aspects as well as critical issues will enable us to extend the cooperation and to propose new common projects.
