Project Summary
This project aims to create a space for young people to explore the concept of wellbeing and its connection to community, citizenship and environment. It will allow the young people to develop ideas about how we can improve our wellbeing, where those ideas will be supported to be put into practice. The collaboration with our partners in Spain will enhance this experience by introducing the intercultural element and considerations for how this opportunity can further enhance out wellbeing. It seems to promote Wellbeing in a European Context contributing towards better individual health, healthier communities and ultimately a healthier Europe.
Developing competence in a experiential learning way.
This is a youth led project emerging from the results of some of the young people having already participated in a TNYI and are keen to have more experiences and opportunities to contribute to positive change in their communities. We hope to achieve this by collaborating with our Spanish partners to explore Tools for Resilience and wellbeing using non formal learning methodology. We will explore how wellbeing and resilience can contribute to the active participation of youth a and how this connects to the fostering of healthier communities.
10 Irish young people and 10 Spanish young people will be actively involved in the design and implementation of all activities. We will host a prep meeting in Spain in Sept 2019 and each partner will host an LTT with specific objectives. Remote and virtual collaboration will continue throughout each phase of the project.
Our primary aim is to support a group of young people in both countries to identify and adopt an active and mindful approach to their health, the health of their communities and a healthier Europe and world. The transnational element of this project will facilitate this to happen at international level. The added values of this is that both partners methods will greatly enhance the quality and impact of the project. it also creates a space for the young people to share and learn though an intercultural lens. This initiative advocates that empathy and understanding of inclusion and diversity are important . With this in mind we expect the following results:
AT INDIVIDUAL LEVEL:
►Health & Wellbeing ; That we reflect, learn and develop tools for resilience that we can practice in our own personal lives.
► Active Citizenship That we create visibility of ourselves as a group of highly motivated young people who wish to make a change in our local communities.
► Inclusive Leadership ; That we build capacity to become actors and leaders of change facilitating wellbeing workshops, events and intercultural activities to other young people in our communities
►Change in our communities ; That we promote intercultural youth work in both countries and demonstrate the potential impact it can have and that in the future other young people can have similar opportunities
AT LOCAL LEVEL:
All of the above aims to increase capacity of the young participants to become active leaders in their communities. We will look for platforms to facilitate activity with other young people in their own communities in the form of workshops, consultations and hopefully further international mobility opportunities for the young members of our communities. The project design has a strong element of workshop design and facilitation skills training so that the participants are supported to become leaders in their community offered a variety of voluntary activities thus extending the reach of this strategic partnership to the extended community. It will highlight opportunities for young people in non formal education and we believe it will have a butterfly affect in motivating other youth to become involved.
AT LEVEL OF QUALITY & RECOGNITION OF YOUTH WORK
We will carefully document the process, reflections and learning outcomes that we will share and disseminate with key stakeholders in the field of youth work with particular emphasis on
* facilitating non formal methods to explore and enhance youth mindfulness and resilience
* In the context of Intercultural learning and sustainability
* Project design for youth mobility activities
