Project Summary

Coding @school is an Erasmus+ school exchange partnership, meant to foster exchange of good practices. The project lasts 24 months and involves 6 partners from: Spain, England, Turkey, Portugal, Finland and Poland. The background of the project lies in the codes which power our digital world.
Our project brings about similar transformational changes in classrooms by exploiting the full potential of coding programs. It sets out to enable and empower its target audiences to engage in a greater degree of content creation, collaboration, expressive communication and greater levels of
interaction, all within learning and teaching contexts.
This project brings together about 250 teachers, 1900 pupils and over 2000 parents and care givers from partner schools and will touch at least 1000 other teachers. Indirect participants like community and interested parties are also beneficiaries of this project.
MAIN PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
-providing an opportunity to work with staff and pupils jointly in improving digital competences for developing key lifelong skills and develop intercultural understanding and language learning.
-Enhancing awareness of the benefits of coding programs in child education within the community
-Increasing the number of trained teachers in integration of coding into the national curriculum
– Increasing the number of pupils using coding and developing computational skills.
In order to achieve these objectives, we will organize 2 Short term staff training which will enable teachers to acquire required knowledge and skills to promote Coding education at own institutions.
Not only pupils and teachers but also parents will benefit from this digital and contemporary program via workshops and special events. More importantly, our project will focus on Europe 2020 priorities and targets to ensure universal provision of ECEC via developing teacher trainings in the partner countries, transferring and implementing innovative practices and promoting cooperation between
schools and local authorities and other sectors.
The other project activities range from developing, testing and implementing curriculum activities through coding programs, teachers training activities, initiatives that develop parental and social involvement, special day celebrations, seminars, workshops, setting up amenities with the
participation of the community to short-term exchanges of groups of pupils and short-term joint staff
training events.
The METHODOLOGY to do this is:
-In the first part of the project ensure teacher training, share best practices and create an outline for the outputs
-In the second part of the project implement the theoretical knowledge as well as test and complete outputs
-Efficient project management ensured by the Project Management Teams of every school through
Monitoring Plans.
We plan to have regular assessment procedures to ensure that the project objectives and results are
achieved:
1) CODING SURVEY for pupils at the beginning and end of the project activities.
2) FEEDBACK GATHERED AT WORKSHOP/PARENTS MEETING
3) PRE/POST TESTS to evaluate the knowledge and skills of pupils about CODING
3)PARTICIPANTS’ EVALUATION QUESTIONNAIRE at the end of training &exchanges
4) MONITORING SHEETS
5) COMMENTS of the visitors and followers on social media

The EXPECTED RESULTS of our project will be:
Introducing CODING to our pupils, we will increase their knowledge and motivation and competences about programming . School community will be more conscious about the importance of Coding Education and promotion of Coding use at schools. Skills and Knowledge of teachers in
teaching integrated skills and Coding will develop via joint staff trainings. Involved in project-based activities will help our pupils improve their skills of creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, collaborative problem solving and risk taking. Our project’s cool Coding activities will drive curiosity and foster a
love of learning followed by understanding of concepts and application of knowledge. Exposed to Coding activities in the club, the pupils will be supported to spark their interest and engagement in programming computers. Pupils will develop their ICT, foreign language, international friendship
skills and knowledge about other cultures. School and local community will feel themselves as part of the European Community. Teaching staff will be more qualified in ICT, English and Communication skills by working online platforms and attending mobility. Partner schools will motivate other schools to join international projects in their local areas.
At the end of the project the e-book for teachers and offline coding booklet will continue to be used by all target groups. The schools will also use them in further workshops and presentations. Project outputs will be open source on sites and dissemination platforms and will be enriched with further experience and feedback for 2 years following project completion.
