Project Summary
In the 21st century in education the way of teaching and learning process has innovative changes. Digital storytelling is the most popular one which engages both students and the teachers to work cooperatively. Students are less motivated to learn in tradition way and they desire to follow up and engage with innovative learning process. Through digital story telling students improve their multiple skills such as problem solving, creativity, critical, analytic thinking, digital literacy, visual literacy, social learning and emotional intelligence. It is a power tool used to give instructional presentations such as information to students. Thus students create their own digital stories and enhance their creavity with the support of teachers instructions. Teachers also create digital stories for current lessons and they will provide students to facilitate disscussions, so the students will internalize and understand the topic easily. There will be teachable and learnable classroom atmosphere. Digital stories which are used to inform and instruct students can be the subjects such as math, geometry, foreign language, history, science, art, ICT etc. For instance, in geometry students will meet principles of geometry with examining everyday objects, in history they will create their digital historical stories with historical photographs, newspaper headlines or materials to add meaning to the the events from previous time. Our purpose with this project to enhance both students and the teachers multiple skills such as researching, writing, organizing, presenting, analysing and evaluating skills with innovative teaching practices through digital story telling. To engage students and teachers in positive classroom atmosphere where bothe them are motivated. Additionaly, they will have intercultural integration through meeting variety of good implementations, socio-cultures and different languages. We aim to gain international and European value. The coordinator country will be Spain, the partners are England, Latvia, Turkey (Adana), Portugal and Turkey (Mersin). Among the partners in the project we will all have chance to meet different teaching and learning process. They will all reshape and add new ways of teaching with digital stories in every subject. European 2020 targets aim to improve digital literacy, to raise quality of education and life long learning. Thus, our project serve to European 2020 targets because we will both motivate the teachers and the students to rise quality of education with effective teaching and learning process, this will effect the students life long learning and future employment. Also, their creativeness and innovativeness in every step of education. There will be three pupil exchanges and three teacher trainings. In these LTT ‘s both pupils and the teachers will observe innovative practices and good samples. Pupils will create innovative materials with digital tools such as videos, stroies, podcasts. They will exchange new ideas and improve their collaborative working. Teachers will get trainings to learn innovative teaching practices with innovative digital tools and specific implementations in different subjects with digital stories. Both teachers and students will effectively use digital storytelling websites such as ACMI Generator, Bubblr, Capzles, Comic Master, Toontastic, MakeBeliefsComix,MapSkip, PicLits, Slidestory, Smilebox, Storybird, Google Apps etc. Thus they will have opportunity to implement 21st century skills by using these applications. Their innovativeness and creativeness will improve. They will have crosscultural integration, meeting different languages and cutures; tolerance to variety of cultures. The project will be evaluated through quantitave and qualitative tools. Every stage of the project will be evaluated with questionnaires, monitoring and interviews. Thus we will search the project which it is reach our purpose. The students who are 14-17 and the secondary school teachers are the target group of the project. For us, dissemination and sustainability of our project is crucial part because with our project we aim to reach teachers, students, local community and organizations, decision makers, authorities and each partners Ministry of Education at local, regional, national and international level. After the approval our project we will prepare dissemination and sustainability contract among the partners. Each partner will sign the paper and follow up the activities and tools which they will use for dissemination and sustainability of the project.
